Surely we all know someone who has formed a strong attachment to their pet.
It’s very understandable, and science has proven that interacting with animals does reduce stress. Some people even throw birthday parties for their pets and see them as a part of the family.
Moreover, some manage to train their cats or dogs to do a variety of impressive stuff: jump through hoops, do some catchy tricks with a ball, or give you high fives with their little paws.
Then again, we stumbled upon a feline that can play the piano.
Nora is an adorable cat that loves Beethoven.
Yes, you’ve read that right—Nora is a grey tabby cat, and she’s world-famous for playing the piano on YouTube and Animal Planet.
She’s 15 years old now, but the little kitten started improvising her jazzy riffs when she was only one year old. Nora was rescued from the streets of Camden, New Jersey and she rose to fame right after her 2007 video went viral.
That’s when someone posted a talented whisker at the piano for the first time.
The rest is history, and believe it or not, Nora’s got 19,800 subscribers on her official YouTube channel. We enjoy her performances very much, and seeing an animal so dazzled with music only makes us believe that our furry animals comprehend so much more than we might think.
Almost 10,000 Instagram users follow Nora’s regular concerts—or shall we better say “catcerto.”
That’s the term Nora’s owners use on the official website—yes, the incredible cat has her website. It’s mind-blowing, and yet so adorable at the same time.
Cats, of course, can’t read notes, so she must be feeling it in her soul.
Maybe we’re getting a little carried away, but the fact remains that Nora’s playing sounds appealing.
If we didn’t know the cat at the piano, we would have thought we were hearing someone practicing. Imagine walking into someone’s house and seeing this! This cute little furball is quite interested in the melody she’s playing, and you can see that her owners aren’t pushing her into this.
Nora is genuinely captivated by those piano keys, and that’s what impresses us the most.
There is a piece playing in the background and you can see Nora triggered by some notes, as she tries to play something to accompany that part. At the beginning of the video, you see a message “practice makes purr-fect.”
We wanted to see if that was true and checked out Nora’s latest video that was published a couple of months ago.
Nora’s been practicing, that’s for sure!
Burnell and Betsy, the couple who adopted Nora, are also musicians.
Upon arriving at the home of her new owners, Nora climbed up to a bench in front of their Yamaha and began to play.
Betsy is a music teacher, and the lovely cat sometimes played duets with Betsy and her students.
Feline’s piano-playing performance was featured on many talk shows, newspapers and news channels, including Martha Stewart, CNN, Public Radio International and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Since it was posted, the video has earned more than three million YouTube views and international fame.
The cat must have been a pianist in one of her nine lives. One thing’s for sure—Nora puts on an amazing show, and you simply enjoy watching her play around the piano. It’s hard to resist those little furry paws when they create music. And if Nora enjoys it, so do we!
