A good Christmas song is always enough to lift your spirits and make you feel a tad more “jolly” than you did before. The only thing that can make a good Christmas song great is who is singing it!
Thankfully, we got to see that process in action when Carrie Underwood went on The Today Show to give us an incredible performance.

Call it marketing or call it advertising, we don’t care – it helps get us in the Christmas mood!
Every news channel and advertisement has a holiday element to it. The Today Show is no different. They had Carrie Underwood perform “Let There Be Peace” and let me tell you, it was AWESOME.
Carrie Underwood’s claim to fame originated with American Idol in season 4 but is now synonymous with country music.
Despite her original fame coming from American Idol, Carrie Underwood has established herself as one of the best singers/songwriters in the US. If someone is going to rock a Christmas song, it’s going to be her.

Carrie opens the song without even hesitating!
No slow entrances for her! She kicks right into the lyrics as the piano backs her up. As the camera pans around, we see Carrie isn’t playing the solo act today. She has her whole entourage of singers and musicians with her. Not to mention the set! She is on a stage with eight or so Christmas trees that flash and light up in sync with the music.
Her choir backup sings as the lights flash and glow.
Carrie sings her song with an awesome choir backing her up! It really provides a wholesome sound that might even give you the chills at one point – especially around the 3-minute mark! Carrie and her band change keys and have a break that comes suddenly enough that you aren’t expecting it. The result is an awesome attention grabber that you can’t help but love.
At the core of it, the message is a good one.
There isn’t anything wrong with singing about Santa or the presents he will bring, but sometimes the world needs something a little more substantial.
Carrie brings that with this song. The entire message is one of peace and unity, especially during this season. 2020 has been hard for many people, and Christmas is a great time to remind the world that we are all connected and can care for one another.
Her incredible and powerful voice drives that point home splendidly.
The message of peace for all is driven home by the powerhouse vocals and knockout performance of Carrie. You’ll find yourself humming the tune later on in the day, thinking about the lyrics and how you can bring peace to the world. Not too bad a thing to dwell on!
