Watching solo guitar performers play their guitar on the streets can be such a thrill!

One particular guitar busker to remember is Miguel Montalban, who announced himself to the world several years ago.

So, who is Miguel Montalban?

If you haven’t heard of him yet, this may just be the perfect time.

Montalban is a Chilean guitar performer who brought his instrument to many places in Europe to show off his admirable skills.

He could usually be seen busking around in the streets of London, playing beautiful guitar renditions of all-time classics including “Hotel California,” “Sweet Child of Mine” and even “Bohemian Rhapsody.” His guitar performances were absolutely top-tier, but one particular performance of his stood out among the rest. It was his rendition of “Sultans of Swing” back in 2016.

On January 24 of 2016, Montalban brought his busking set on the streets of Oxford Circus in London.

He positioned himself just right beside the stairs leading towards an underground walkway.

This time, he decided to play the busy crowd a familiar tune called “Sultans of Swing,” a classic rock song composed and written by British Rock band Dire Straits in 1977.

The moment he began plucking the first few notes for its intro, you can hear someone shouting, “I love this!”

Whoever it was clearly recognized the song right away! Afterward, Montalban reached for his phone quickly to play the backing track so he could finally start the real show.

Montalban’s guitar-playing skills are the real deal.

He was able to stop a lot of passersby and urge them to watch his performance with only his guitar.

Montalban has attracted the crowd with his incredible, almost unmatched guitar skills, plucking the strings to produce such vibrant sounds.

You can also admire the accuracy and dexterity of his fingers as he runs them over the fretboard.

Furthermore, he added some colorful spice to the song and made sure that he didn’t stray too from the original. The man continued to shred the same song for more than nine minutes, but every second of it was just as electrifying.

This flawless rendition of his has brought his name into the limelight even more.

Montalban was already a famous guitarist in some places in Europe.

In fact, before he even went busking in London, he joined an indie rock band in Rome called Andes Empire and performed several concerts together with the band.

He went his separate ways to work as a solo guitarist, and traveled alone in European capitals to make a living off of his skillful renditions.

With his success constantly on the rise, he attracted some producers including Kevin Metcalfe—the same producer who worked on songs with musicians like Queen and David Bowie.

He worked with Metcalfe for a while and found more success after he released album after album.
