Buddhist monks step out into square, then start break dancing for tribute that draws crowd
Their moves were incredible, but the reason behind their performance is even more unexpected!

Adam Yauch from the legendary group the Beastie Boys passed away in 2012, leaving his fans stunned.

The trailblazing musician was an amazingly talented person and a practicing Buddhist. Two years after his death, these awesome breakdancers dressed in monk outfits to do a tribute to the icon who made such an impact in the music industry.

These breakdancers do a powerful tribute to Yauch, all while dressed as Tibetan monks.

The Beastie Boys debut album, License To Ill, hit the scene in November 1986 and took the music world by storm.

Group members Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA (Adam Yauch) paved the way for hip-hop and are known as one of the most influential groups of all time.

Unfortunately, Yauch passed away in 2012 after a battle with cancer and is survived by his wife and daughter.

In this epic video, four gifted breakdancers dressed as monks do a high-flying routine in Yauch’s honor. At the start of the video, the dancers calmly walk through Union Square park before busting out an insane breakdancing routine.

Right from the get-go, the four breakdancers spin, bounce, and flip for an enthralled audience.

They begin taking turns hopping into the middle of the square while playing off each other and doing mind-blowing moves.

From spinning directly on their heads’ to going in slow motion, these breakdancers are some of the best we’ve seen!

The arm strength it takes them to pull off these moves is immense, but they make it look easy.

With a Beastie Boys tune playing in the background, they defy gravity with their intense dancing.

Every one of them is an expert breakdancer, and onlookers watch in awe while their routine just gets better and better. They all fly through the air with massive flips—sometimes even dropping straight to the ground and landing in poses.

Using their momentum to guide them from one move to the next, the break dancing monks do tricks that look extremely painful for the average person but they’re far from average.

You can see more and more people crowding around the dancers until there’s a massive audience watching them.

People pull out their phones and cameras to catch the sensational breakdancing on film while the dancers remain focused throughout their masterful display of breakdancing.

These guys are seriously amazing!

The moves they manage can only be perfected by the most talented breakdancers. After going through the whole song by the Beastie Boys, they do something incredible at the end of the performance.

To end the terrific spectacle, the dancers take turns sliding into the middle into stellar poses, with one of them even balancing on his head.

This is such a creative and touching tribute to Yauch that anyone can surely appreciate.

Though it goes without saying, breakdancing doesn’t get much better than this! These dancing monks are in a league of their own.

Yauch and the Beastie Boys paved the way for hip-hop music.

They have influenced so many people all over the world, and tributes like this keep their music alive and thriving. Even though it’s sad that Yauch left us so early, we’re sure he’s smiling down on performances like this one.
