Big Dance is an awesome opportunity for everyone to dance.
Itโs a free event in the United Kingdom that has happened every two years since 2006. The event lasts for nine days and anyone can join in, learn the choreography and show it off on performance day.
And is there any better place to flash your newest moves than in front of the royal home?
In this video, many interesting things happen in front of Buckingham Palace.
The official London residence of Britainโs monarchy has been the main royal home since 1837.
Buckingham Palace is also an office where Her Majesty receives and entertains guests. Itโs one of the most interesting buildings in the world, and all kinds of interesting cultural things happen inside and outside of it. An excellent example is the Changing of the Guard.
Thatโs why Brits and tourists come in front of Buckingham Palace and wait there.
The ceremony is very interesting, and it includes a march with musical support provided by a Regimental Band or Corps of Drums with pipers.
Then again, you might also witness a flash mob like this one.
Big Dance is an event in the UK where people gather in front of the Palace to dance and have fun.
A small group of dancers gradually grows in number.
Thatโs how the video beginsโwith a small group of people at the stairs of the Victoria Memorial sculpture.
For a little historical background, please note that the sculpture is placed at the center of Queenโs Gardens in front of Buckingham Palace and was built in 1911. The Dance group does not have any music in the backgroundโthey use their fingers and hands to create the rhythm and they stick to it.
A large circle of people forms around dancers, and suddenly Queenโs โWe Will Rock Youโ begins to ring out.
Thatโs when more dancers emerge from the crowd. Theyโre everywhere, which makes it one of the most exciting flash mobs ever!
Everyone around seems fascinated to be part of it, and people start taking out their phones and cameras to capture as much as possible.
Though the atmosphere is great the whole time, it hits a peak with โShow Me Love.โ
Robin Stoneโs famous hit song โShow Me Loveโ was a perfect choice for everyone to hit the dance floor.
We love that the choreography was simple, yet effective. Those were dance moves anyone could learn or pick up. And as this video proves, many people did!
You can see some people standing by watching the whole thing, but itโs hard to resist the music.
Before long, they go with the flow and start dancing. What a powerful force music isโit unites, lifts, moves, shakes us up and helps us explode with energy!
The event was hosted by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.
Students from the University of East London joined forces with the Big Dance event and came to dance in honor of Young People in the Performing Arts.
The idea came from The Queen, though itโs not the first time that Queen Elizabeth II organized such an event and treated tourists to a surprise flash mob.
The Palace planned the whole show to make a royal reception, and it was said that the inspiration came from William and Kateโs romance.
The video received more than 3 million YouTube views after it was published on an official Youtube channel of the British Monarchy in 2011. Youโll want to watch again and again!
