These are difficult times for so many of us. The whole world is experiencing a truly unique and terrible situation, but we’re all hopeful that brighter days are lying ahead.
In the meantime, we have to do what we can to keep our spirits high, and one wonderful way you can always cheer yourself up is through the power of music.
One extra special performance by a truly talented duo of brothers seems particularly fitting in this troubled period. Introducing ‘Hallelujah’ by Wuauquikuna.
Wuauquikuna is the name of a two-man band from Ecuador.
Two brothers, Luis and Fabian Salazar, formed the band over two decades ago and have spent all those years traveling and performing far and wide, flying across the world to Europe in order to share their talents with as many people as possible.
Honoring their heritage, the duo have become proficient in a range of typically South American instruments like the quenacho and rondador, which are various forms of panpipes and flutes, and this incredible video sees them putting their panpipe talents to work on a magnificent cover version of Leonard Cohen’s classic.
Written by Cohen and released on his 1984 album, Various Positions, Hallelujah actually wasn’t too popular at first but gradually grew to become one of Cohen’s best-known creations.
It famously featured in the film Shrek and has been covered and performed by countless other artists over the years.
We’ve heard all kinds of unique takes on Hallelujah, but this panpipe version, performed passionately and powerfully by two truly talented brothers, stands out as one of the most unique and memorable of them all.
The video starts off with Luis and Fabian in a simply stunning location, sitting on a small patch of land and surrounded by a stunning lake scene, with misty mountains off in the distance.
It looks like a truly peaceful and almost heavenly place, the perfect environment for a song like this one.
As the two brothers take their seats beside a tree and begin to play, we can feel all our worries and stresses just slipping away as we immerse ourselves in this truly magical sound.
There’s something really special about the mystical, almost otherworldly sound of the panpipes, and these two musicians have clearly mastered their instruments over the years, playing each note to perfection and bringing the song to life in a whole new way.
The stunning landscape surrounding them enhances the music even further, and this is a truly amazing performance to watch if you just want to relax for a few minutes.
Over 1.7 million people have enjoyed the video so far after it was uploaded to the official Wuauquikuna channel.
The channel also features many other amazing panpipe and flute performances from the duo, including a stunning version of Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas and even a super fun cover of Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.
