No matter how competitive the world of music gets, it always seems like there’s new talent to discover online.

On the one hand, major record labels are always signing new groups and new acts that bring new sounds to the world stage. Still, even more interesting is that amateur musicians and performers are broadcasting their talents to the world through platforms like YouTube.

Even if the site started as a place to post home videos, it has since become a place where millions of people discover new talent and new performers.

And today’s video showcases just one of them.

The clip we’re talking about was posted online in September 2017.

It was uploaded by Brooke C, a channel run by Brooke Colucci. Though she’s not a household name, Colucci is a rock drummer who has been drumming since she was six years old. She even did an interview with Modern Drummer explaining how she got into it and what she loves most about drumming:

“My love for drumming started at age six after going to a friend’s rock-themed birthday party where they had a couple local musicians bring in instruments for us to play. After getting behind the kit, I fell in love. I went home asking my parents for a drum set and a month later I got a toy version for Christmas. The next month I started taking private drum lessons and began learning the basics.”

Needless to say, all that hard work has paid off!

In the video, Colucci plays a drum cover to “Vicarious,” a song by progressive metal group Tool.

Though it’s likely not everyone will be familiar with the band, Tool is known particularly for the complexity and uniqueness of their songs—even within metal as a genre, which is known for its complexity.

In particular, Tool has a very unique drum sound and rhythm that takes real skill to duplicate. Fortunately, Colucci is more than up to the challenge!

It all starts with Colucci doing a controlled roll on one of her cymbals as the guitars come in.

After that, the song starts in earnest—and she starts rocking out.

Even though the time signatures are irregular and she has to play all around the kit, Colucci pulls it off seamlessly and makes it seem like nothing!

To make it even more interesting, she adds in her own impressive drum fills as well… and she keeps the groove the entire time. Even for those who aren’t huge fans of the band or the original music, it’s hard to deny how talented Colucci is.

Though it goes without saying Colucci, absolutely rocked this cover!

Since it was posted, the video has been viewed more than two million times.

Although the first half is impressive all on its own, things really get taken to a new level in the second half. Though there are plenty of drum covers out there online, this is by far the most impressive we’ve seen in a long time… If you check this out, be sure to watch the part starting at 3:25!
