One Singer On The Voice Stole All The Judges' Hearts
His voice is incredible, but watching the chemistry between the two of them is hilarious!

One of the most thrilling things about The Voice has got to be the competition between the judges.

Unlike shows like American Idol, part of the thrill of these shows is that the judges themselves plenty at stake, just like the contestants do. On other shows, the contestants step out in bright lights and the judges look directly at them.

How the contestants perform has nothing to do with the judges since they’re just there to either advance them or cut them. On The Voice, the judges are turned around and can only judge the contestants by their voices.

And sometimes, they make the wrong calls on contestants—and end up regretting it.

One great example of this happened on the Australian version of The Voice in 2018.

Like every other episode, the judges were turned away as contestant Brock Ashby walked out onstage in the darkness. After taking a moment to gather himself, the music starts playing and Ashby starts to sing.

From the very beginning, his voice is smooth and powerful and the whole crowd is cheering. The song he’s singing is “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, but his unique voice and inflection make it all his own.

Before long, the whole crowd is clapping along with him.

By the time he hits the first chorus, all of the judges are on the edges of their seats.

The whole crowd is cheering along once again as judges Kelly Rowland and judge Boy George both turn around. Right after that, judge Joe Jonas turns around as well and everyone is cheering—the only one who doesn’t turn around in time is judge Delta Goodrem.

When everyone finally turns and the performance is over, standing before them is a very handsome young man with the look of a pop star (and he clearly has the voice to match).

Once she sees what she missed out on, Goodrem just hangs her head in embarrassment!

After that, it’s time for all of the judges to argue and fight over Ashby.

As he reveals, Ashby is from Sydney, Australia. All of the judges have similar comments on just how good the performance was. Still, the funniest part of the whole process is the strange chemistry between Ashby and Goodrem!

All she can say is that she regrets not turning around and that “she could always use more good-looking guys on her team!” After that, he explains that the first time he performed was at his mother’s funeral.

At this, judge Rowland starts tearing up.

The effect that it has on her is immediately clear—as Rowland says that she lost her mom right after she had her own daughter.

After all the discussion is over, it’s time for a final decision. Although it’s definitely a tough decision, Goodrem comes up onstage and even gives Ashby a kiss to help him in the deciding process. After a little more deliberation, Ashby decides that he’s going to go with Kelly—and the crowd explodes! Needless to say, moments like this show just how great The Voice’s formula really is. While seeing Ashby right away would’ve made an impression on the judges, hearing him first, seeing him second and then hearing his story added so much.

Congratulations to Brock and Kelly on pairing up! Check out the full performance in the clip below:
