A wedding’s not a wedding without the food and the music. This bride and groom decided they’d be providing their own music at their wedding. Now that’s something you don’t see many brides and grooms do!
But this isn’t a simple song cover or a piano arrangement.
Jamie and Megan Colvin have a special musical arrangement for their wedding guests here.
Being a couple that can play music is pretty cool already. Jamie can play the piano pretty well, and Megan’s got a darn good singing voice.
So what does this musical couple have in store for the guests?
Well, they’ve prepared some Disney classics, but not exactly the way you remember them.
Jamie plays the piano, and I’m pretty sure he’s playing “Part Of Your World,” but those lyrics from Megan definitely aren’t the lyrics to it.
They’re a bit different, aren’t they?
The intro’s already different. And the first stanza normally goes “Look at this trove/treasures untold/how many wonders can one cavern hold?”
But what Megan sang was “You’ve traveled here to see us tie the knot/others are here just to drink quite a lot.”
Can’t deny that those are some pretty clever replacements for the lyrics. Their guests appreciated it too, because the drinking line got a loud cheer from them.
The next song is pretty near and dear to our punk rock hearts: it’s a spin on Green Day’s “Time of Your Life”.
She’s changed the lyrics to make it a thank-you song to her best friends who are serving as bridesmaids here.
Oh, she didn’t forget about the groom’s best men either. Jamie’s busy playing piano, and I’m not quite sure he can sing as well as Megan.
So Megan sings a song for their best men too. And it’s a parody of none other than “I’ll Make A Man Out of You”.
Megan’s little take on the song substitutes the subject of war with the fun of watching a friend drinking alcohol. It’s a hit with the dudes, naturally.
She’s got a lot more people to thank, so Jamie keeps the music going.
It’s her maid of honor’s turn now, who happens to be her big sister, Hannah.
Megan uses the tune of “Can you Feel The Love Tonight” for this one, as she sings to Hannah about how much she loves and appreciates her.
Her sister and mom love it, and almost seem like they’re gonna tear up.
Over halfway through their set now, Megan moves on to thanking her parents.
She borrows the tune of “Yellow” by Coldplay for this one, and the tone change is more somber compared to the Disney arrangements of the last few songs.
Her mom and dad can’t help but smile at the love Megan’s throwing at them.
And now to Jamie’s parents’, who are treated to a cute spin on “Hey Jude” that’s all about what great parents they were to raise a man like Jamie.
Megan really thought of everything, from the lyrics to how to make them fit with the key and notes of the original songs.
Even her last song, a thank-you to everyone who attended the wedding, is clearly filled with thought and love – even if some prior ones were on the humorous side.
Megan definitely made her wedding one to remember. Congratulations to her and Jamie!
