When you attend a wedding you never know what you’re going to witness. From hilarious flower girl mishaps to tearjerking marriage vows – it’s an event that can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Many times, couples even incorporate a surprise into their big day to give it an extra kick!
One bride decided to shake things up by putting a spin on a very classic tradition. What makes her surprise extra special is that her two teenage sons were involved – and together, they ended up knocking everyone’s socks off.
Break out the tissues.
Wedding receptions are typically a smorgasbord of entertainment full of music, dancing, and traditions. One event that a lot of people look forward to is the mother-son dance. It’s a sight that can bring tears to your eyes – a mama slow dancing with her “baby boy.”
The video below begins in this type of heart-melting fashion. Mom’s the gorgeous bride, and she walks in front of guests holding hands with her teenage son. Adding to the sweetness, they start dancing to Boyz II Men’s hit track “A Song for Mama.” Aww!
Keep those tissue boxes out everybody.
After a couple of minutes, the bride’s other teenager steps in and takes over slow dancing with his mom. It’s a beautiful sight and you can tell that there is so much love between them!
Surely guests had no clue that a “funky” twist was on its way…
It seems like a mistake when the music comes to a halt.
While the duo’s dancing, the song suddenly turns fuzzy making it seem like there’s a technical issue going on. (Come on, DJ!) But of course, that’s not the case… “Uptown Funk” fills the room and the trio’s surprise is revealed.
Get ready for an upbeat choreographed dance performance featuring a mom and her sons!
It begins with them busting a move on the dance floor to “Uptown Funk.” While you might be wondering how a bride could boogie wearing high heels – she’s actually got sneakers underneath her dress! The trio’s got some awesome skills too.
Their performance is a medley of songs and styles.
With all eyes on them, the lovely bride and her teens dance to popular tracks like Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache” and Unk’s “Walk It Out.”
Not only are they really good – but it’s heartwarming to think about how much time they would have had to spend together learning the routine! The boys were 14 and 15-years-old according to the YouTube video title.
Did someone call for a little Tom Jones?
The bride so cutely lipsyncs “It’s Not Unusual” into a pretend microphone while her sons provide backup entertainment. Her new husband is sitting at a table up front, so has the best seat in the house for the show.
You might want to get out the tissues one more time near the end.
After the mom and sons dance to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” the music goes full circle back to “A Song for Mama.” The three embrace and share a few moments of pure love. Stop it, onions!
It’s a surprise wedding performance that’s won the internet’s heart.
Tons of viewers have left positive comments like:
“This is so beautiful ❤ Spectacular performance and just look at how much the three of them love each other! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!”
Another person wrote:
“Omg! This is adorable!! I have 3 boys (already married though!) and this brought tears to me eyes! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️”
If you’re looking to bring uniqueness to your reception, but don’t have quite as much energy – there are lots of ways to do so. HuffPost created a list of mother-son dance songs that aren’t overly used. They included tunes like “I’ll Stand by You,” “Tupelo Honey,” “Beautiful Boy,” and “Home.”
