In a video posted on YouTube, we see Thays Monaro, Mitie Ishizaki, Ana Julia Fiori, Lais Gonçalves, and Mikaeli Dantas line dancing to Alan Jackson‘s “Chattahoochee”. Their video has accumulated more than 20 million views since 2017 when it was first shared.

Thays Monaro, the young blonde woman in the center, is the leader of the group and the one that choreographed the dance. Thays is also a dance instructor and the president of the Comitiva Magia Country Show. She’s the one behind the planning and the filming of this incredible dance video.

The song chosen, Alan Jackson‘s “Chattahoochee”, appears to be the right choice as it’s not only a beautiful light-hearted song that makes you want to get up and join them. But it’s also an uptempo song which means that these young ladies are really trying to keep the rhythm going while making sure they’re following their steps correctly.

For those that aren’t familiar with this particular song, just this past July it’s been 27 years since “Chattahoochee” began its first of four weeks at the No. 1 of the music charts! The song was written by Alan Jackson and Jim McBride back in 1992 and it’s based on the real Chattahoochee River, which borders Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

The inspiration for the song came to McBride one afternoon after reading a book about the Chattahoochee River. He had also read back in high school a poem by Sydney Lanier called the “Song of the Chattahoochee”, these two were enough to light a spark inside him and a melody started to form in his mind. What an extraordinary story to say afterward about how you ended up composing a song!

Jackson explained that when they wrote Chattahoochee they had never really expected it to become such a hit. As he said in the liner notes of 1995’s The Greatest Hits Collections, “It’s a song about having fun, growing up and coming of age in a small town — which really applies to anyone across the country, not just by the Chattahoochee”.

Undeniably Jackon and McBride were right as the young ladies in the video are definitely having fun, dancing to this incredible and uplifting melody! If you are fans of line dance, don’t waste any more time, lace up your boots, take your hats, and follow the music!
