Any Queen fans in the house?
Yeah, I thought so.
Freddie Mercury is one of the most beloved entertainers of all time.
His dark, slicked-back hair and white tank top are iconic.
Although Freddie Mercury passed in 1991, his legend undoubtedly lives on.
Just ask Alexander Penkov.
Pep rallies are the perfect places to show off middle school talent.
If there’s an upcoming sports event against a rival school, a pep rally’s the perfect place to add some pep in your peers’ step.
Turns out, this isn’t actually a pep rally! It’s a talent show set in a gym!
Our handsome young Freddie Mercury doppelganger, Alexander, takes center stage.
And by “stage,” I mean gym.
The young Freddie Mercury naturally fires up some Queen… a song that everybody knows.
Who doesn’t love “Bohemian Rhapsody”?
Well, to answer my own question… practically nobody.
Queen’s magnum opus (arguably) has been heard countless times across the world. And it’s still exceedingly popular to this very day!
Heck, middle school students are still listening to it! Alexander continues the piano chords, all while singing the lyrics that famously address “Mama.”
The crowd’s mesmerized.
This is about as close to Freddie Mercury as it gets! He sings the powerful words that most of us know by heart.
The entire gymnasium’s glued to their seats.
All eyes are on Alexander.
The mad man even had the audacity to blow a kiss to the audience!
This one’s for his loving audience!
His kiss is met with chuckles and light snickers across the gymnasium.
Like Freddie Mercury, Alexander just oozes talent, charisma, and confidence.
His virtuoso impersonation continues.
Along with being a great singer, Alexander’s quite the pianist.
He’s like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Beethoven!
But mostly Freddie Mercury.
Even though he’s not accompanied by legendary Queen guitarist Brian May and the rest of the gang, Alexander makes the solo act work.
That might be an understatement.
Alexander pushes his vocal cords to the max as he continues singing the ballad portion of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Not only does he assume the voice of Freddie Mercury, but they also look alike too!
Alexander wraps things up with some piano wizardry.
His handles fly up and down the keyboard as he rips off some amazing chords.
He continues the central melody of “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the crowd’s amazement.
Then comes the final piano chord and the crowd erupts in applause! One viewer wrote the following:
“I Had Goosebumps and a tear in my eyes, while watching this. The Kid Did Very Well….As He Ages, He Will Be Even More Talented!!!!”
What do you think of Freddie Mercury’s – I mean Alexander Penkov’s performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody”?
Freddie Mercury would be proud!
This type of impression and musical cover is about the sincerest form of flattery there is. Alexander is basically a miniature Freddie Mercury.
