The power of the human voice is strong enough to move mountains and stir rivers. It can come in many forms with some voices being smooth like molasses, while others may tend to have a raspier, more jagged sound.
Channeling this power is considerably harder than most people realize. One of the best examples we have had as a successful musical singer was the late great Whitney Houston. In 1985, her voice began blessing the airwaves with her debut album “Whitney Houston” and quickly rose to prominence as one of the greatest selling female artists of all time.
That’s why it came as no surprise when a young boy by the name of Dane Miller decided to pay tribute to Houston by singing her 1993 hit single “I Have Nothing”. His phenomenal performance has moved the hearts of more than 21 million people.
As you can see Dane Miller has the condition known as down syndrome, but that didn’t stop him from truly shining and stealing the spotlight. He clearly demonstrates an immense amount of passion and love to express himself through this amazing song.
Dane’s mom, Dana Miller, stated that her son became interested in Houston after viewing a documentary on the celebrity. She could tell that Dane quickly began picking up different singing habits and soon everything made sense once the two went out for a quick errand and their hometown of Prosper, Texas.
“He’s high-functioning and smarter than we all really know,” stated Danna. “we’ve just posted because it is so cute and precious… We’re just so grateful and so happy to share things Joy with people. He has a pureness of heart and a light inside him that is truly infectious.”
Dane is incredibly animated during his entire performance. He moves along with Whitney’s powerful crescendos and glorious high notes that are almost impossible to hit. Dane is clearly dedicated to performing a real treat for us all!
In the video, he raises his hands to the heavens as he pours out his emotion with every verse. His face evidently filled with powerful reactions that reflect the dedication he has put behind every phrase.
The way Dane is able to hang on to those notes is out of this world. No amount of shower singing can ever prepare you for moments like these!
His adorable smile and contagious laughter combine in such a heartfelt way that it’s almost impossible to ignore. According to Danna, there is definitely more to come from the little star in the making.
She also said that Dane’s love for music allowed him to easily perform for their family. “He picks up songs really quickly and music touches him.”
And it definitely shows. Dane never hesitates to show us what he’s got and boy, does he have plenty of it. His energetic personality shines through vividly with each moment of his show.
The video finally ends when the background sound slowly subsides into silence. Dane looks at us as if he knows he just brought down the roof and summoned the angels themselves. This young boy is truly something special.
