Thanks to ever-changing restrictions and the need for social distancing, there haven’t been that many boogie-woogie contests in the past year or so – and we’ve definitely missed seeing them.

Of course, we’re not the only ones. The dancers have been patiently waiting to boogie their hearts out once again. Luckily, the boogie-woogie has officially gone online, and we are loving it.

The famous dance couple Nils and Bianca were among some of the very first to take part in online dancefests.

The upbeat sounds of the Georgia Slop by Jimmy McCracklin started playing as the two of them began to dance across the screen. Nils and Bianca were already into the groove the moment they began to move.

It was such a relief to be involved in a competition again! It had been a long year for them as well as so many others. They were ready to wow an audience that covered the world.

Going live

They practically skipped across the stage in unison in those first moments. Soon, Nils was spinning Bianca at an incredible speed. They were putting so much energy into their dancing that they practically blurred on the screen.

Getting into it

They brought out all of their best moves, with one twirl turning into a dip that had Bianca sliding across the floor and between Nils’ shoes. They brought so much flair to the stage. It was clear that they had practiced for this moment.

Every step was done in unison. They didn’t miss a single beat.

Fancy footwork

After all of their fast and athletic moves, they had to break into some seriously fancy footwork. Their feet sped across the floor as their toes swung back and forth to the upbeat music of Jimmy McCracklin.

Then, just as quickly as they had begun the footwork, they leaped right back into twisting, turning, throws, and – well – actual leaps!

Loving every moment

The smiles on their faces are contagious. It’s clear that they love dancing and missed being able to share their enthusiasm for it. It felt great to be performing and competing again.

That’s not to say that they took all of 2020 off. The two have a website and have been teaching dance classes online. They’re sharing the boogie-woogie with as many people as they can and inviting people to “dance at home” with them.

They weren’t going to let COVID-19 get in the way of their love of dancing. They just had to take it online!

Their first-place winning performance not only proves that they can do it, but it shows how much these two shine no matter what. Luckily for them, the camera loves them. What’s more important is that we love them too.

This dancing duo is absolutely amazing in how much energy and spirit they bring with them into everything they do.
