When it comes to dancing, two things stand out. First, there are multiple styles, which means there’s something for everyone. Second, regardless of the type of dance, this activity makes you feel good. That’s especially true when doing fast and fun steps associated with Swing and Boogie-Woogie.

What’s the difference?

Since West Coast Swing is the most popular style of this genre, we’ll use it as a comparison to Boogie-Woogie. This dance is performed in a slot formation and is danced to modern music. On the other hand, Boogie-Woogie is a six-count dance that incorporates the eight-count Lindy Hop style.

Similar yet unique

Both of these dance styles are a blast. By combining the two, dancers have a much broader range of song choice. As a result, that gives them more liberty with the footwork. All the way around, Swing and Boogie-Woogie mixed is incredibly fun to watch.

Dressed the part

Since both Swing and Boogie-Woogie were popular during the 1930, 1940, and 1950s, it was important for the dancers to dress accordingly. And they did. The men had on suits and thin ties with their hair slicked back and the women cute skirts, bobby socks, and Oxford shoes.

Choosing a favorite

While everyone who watches this video has a favorite dancer, several people who posted comments agreed that the lady in the plaid skirt was beyond exceptional. One person wrote this, “Can’t keep my eyes off the girl in the plaid skirt.”

The Running Man

A lot of people throw in The Running Man move when dancing to modern music. But in this case, it became a part of the Swing and Boogie-Woogie performance. It’s cool to see something relatively new thrown into a classic.

Wow…the speed

The speed at which these dancers perform is out of this world. Their feet are going so fast that it’s hard to keep up. Even their hands and bodies are lightning-fast. And they don’t stop throughout the over two-minute video.

Spotting the two styles

Remember, West Coast Swing is usually in slot formation. So, that’s easy to spot. But a lot of the footwork these dancers do relate to Boogie-Woogie. This is a perfect balance of the two styles. The level of talent these dancers possess is truly amazing.
