For many, dancing is a way of life. For others, it’s simply a fun way to burn some extra calories or a way to escape from reality.
There are many reasons why people do it but oftentimes, it comes down to the love of the act.
For Nils Andrén and Bianca Locatelli, it’s a way of life. Though they have dabbled in various styles of dance such as hip-hop, ballroom, ballet, and more, the pair seem to have a knack (and love) for swing.
Fortunately, their hard work has paid off over the years and the dance partners have won several competitions together.
The duo are members of the Swedish national team in Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop — specific styles of swing dance. Not only does the pair hold titles in Sweden, they also hold dance titles overseas.
Though there are many styles of swing, they are often performed to rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm and blues, and piano boogie woogie.
While both Andrén and Locatelli starting dancing as kids, they became dance partners when Locatelli was 16-years-old and moved to Sweden.
In this particular video, the partners perform in 2018 at the Rock That Swing Festival to Bruce Channel’s, “Hey! Baby.”
The festival is an international dance event held annually in Munich, Germany. The five-night event has been ongoing for 15 years as of 2020. Now that’s pretty impressive!
Before the music even begins, the couple smiles and engages with the audience. Clearly, they’re comfortable in an environment where they’re surrounded by a crowd and flashing lights.
The audience responds to the couple with cheers and applause.
Mind you, this is before the couple even begins to dance.
Dressed to the nines, both dancers look as if they stepped out of a time machine.
Andrén wears a subtle all-grey suit while Locatelli is in a concealing all-black dress. Additionally, Andrén’s hair is gelled and Locatelli’s ‘do is pinned and tucked.
The couple begins with smooth, quick steps. They each have one hand placed gently on the other’s back which seems to come in handy as they move in unison in the middle of the dance floor.
But the two seem to read each other so well that they could probably perform the routine together with their eyes closed.
Both dancers are extremely fun to watch and are simply magical together. Throughout the routine, they laugh and smile at each other and with the audience as well.
It’s definitely one of the most engaging performances we’ve seen in some time!
In true swing dancing fashion, they both get down low to the floor and back up as if their knees are made of steel! Truly, they make it look so easy!
Andrén proves to be one of the most energetic performers we’ve seen. He dances with so much enthusiasm and personality, it’s hard to take your eyes off of him.
Locatelli matches his energy without a problem. She’s just as fun and exciting to watch.
The entire performance is theatrical and the moves are done with such precision and complexity, it’s simply mesmerizing.
This is certainly a performance you have to see to believe! You can watch the full performance below. We highly recommend it!
