Bono is an Irish singer-songwriter and is best known as the lead vocalist of rock band U2.
It should come as no surprise that this beloved musician loves to jam on the streets of Dublin, where he was born and raised.
We found an awesome busk on Grafton Street, where Bono, Glen Hansard, Lisa Hannigan, Sinéad O’Connor and Liam Ó Maonlai decided to play on a busy street to raise money for homeless charities The Simon Community, and the Peter McVerry Trust.
There’s a good reason why they call this performance the “greatest busk on Grafton street!”
The performance is warm and amazing, but these stars made it look like a real concert.
As the video begins, the street is crowded with people who took out their phones, eager to film the awesome atmosphere.
In the beginning, we see Glen Hansard.
He tells the audience that they’re trying to raise some money for charity purposes, but in case someone is not comfortable with giving any, that’s fine too. He invites everyone to simply enjoy music. The camera shows an open guitar suitcase, and people start filling it with money. Why wouldn’t they? You get to see all these excellent musicians for the price you want. In all, it was an excellent performance for an even greater cause.
The performance had so much joy and was so spontaneous.
When you see this, you’ll fall in love with Ireland.
After seeing this impromptu music session in a public street, we also fell in love with Dublin. The thing we loved the most about it all is that local unarmed policemen joined in and had a bit of fun. Nothing got broken up or regulated—it all culminated with more music. Everyone is having a blast, and people are singing along, dancing, and laughing. This is how it’s done! All of these people are serious superstars, but they’re still having a sing-along on the street without any security risk. In one word: beautiful.
It was an Irish Christmas with Bono, Hansard and half of Dublin.
All these musicians gathered up to make something good, and celebrate Christmas together with the people of Dublin.
It ended up being a double success. Everyone had a great time, and they raised enough money. What a way to celebrate a holiday! It was beautiful watching musicians who love their craft.
After seeing the video of this, we’re just wishing we could’ve been there in person!
The way they got together in the Christmas spirit and proceeded to give their earnings to the homeless of Dublin is very noble and wonderful. May we also mention Sinéad O’Connor and Lisa Hannigan who sang like there was no tomorrow.
It’s amazing how music brings people together and helps them feel joy as they pass through the world.
We always knew that stars are usually down to earth people who simply enjoy what they do: music.
The way these singers made the audience happy is hard to describe. You feel part of the whole experience just by watching this phenomenal show. We can bet that over a million YouTube viewers felt the same thing we did, and those who were there won’t ever forget it. It would be nice if things like this became common practice all over the world!
