We are all equal in this world

Amidst the existence of discrimination, more and more people are learning to give people with disabilities what they truly deserve.

From equal rights and a fair share of opportunities, the world is starting to realize that there is more to them than meets the eye.

The same goes for reality talent shows such as America’s Got Talent, a platform where people from all walks of life are welcome.

From talented people of all ages and genders to people who were deprived of having all their body senses up and running.

Do you still remember Kodi Lee? He is a Korean American singer-songwriter and pianist who gained international recognition after winning the 14th season of America’s Got Talent.

Kodi Lee was the first-ever person to win the prestigious title despite being legally blind and having autism.

Now, another aspirant rose in the person of Putri Ariani, a 17-year-old teenage girl from Indonesia, and just like Kodi Lee, she also is blind.

The ultimate dream

In the 18th season of America’s Got Talent, a talented young singer named Putri Ariani traveled all the way from Indonesia with her parents to audition for the show.

While preparing backstage, Ariani opened up about the challenges she faces as a blind singer.

“My biggest challenge is that people often see me only as a blind person, not recognizing my talent as a musician. But when I’m singing, I feel like a shining star,” she emotionally said.

When asked about her dreams, the 17-year-old hopeful shared, “My dream is to become the biggest diva in the world, like Whitney Houston, and win a Grammy Award.”

She also expressed her desire to study music at Juilliard School.

Despite her blindness, Ariani revealed that she has been singing since the day she was born. Her passion for music fueled her determination to win the competition with her angelic voice and piano-playing skills.

During her audition, she mesmerized the audience with her own-written song titled “Loneliness.” Her voice was absolutely phenomenal and its unique tone captivated everyone. The song expressed the pain of heartbreak, and Ariani’s delivery was perfect.

The talented teenager managed to deliver a magnificent performance that aimed to impress the four judges before her. Simon Cowell, one of the judges, was so impressed that he stood up and hurriedly approached Ariani after her performance.

Simon praised her for her impeccable talent and humbly asked if she could perform another song, to which Ariani gladly agreed.

Before singing, she said, “This song is special for you, Simon.”

She then flawlessly sang Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word,” and left everyone in awe.

No words can fully describe the extent of Ariani’s talent.

The first three judges had nothing but praise for the young singer. Simon himself couldn’t help but agree and said, “Well, I think we’re all feeling the same thing. You’re only 17, you write songs, you have an amazing distinctive voice, and I mean, really, really good. There’s a certain glow about you.”

Cowell, once again, inquired about Ariani’s plans to enter Juilliard School, and moments later, he granted the 17-year-old Indonesian girl a dream come true – the Golden Buzzer!

The stage was instantly showered with golden confetti, and Ariani couldn’t hold back tears of joy. She truly deserved it and everyone in the theatre was on their feet as Ariani, her parents, and Simon celebrated the beautiful moment on stage.
