Simone Soman was born blind in both eyes. The singer and pianist is from Waterford, Ontario and she says that she’s learned to live with her disability and that she embraces it.
Soman took to the Canada’s Got Talent stage, with a talent she says she’s blessed to have. And with the support of her fiance, Richard Hill, Soman had all the confidence in the world.
People just need to open their eyes first.
Simone has performed in the past but decided to settle down for awhile, having two kids who are just super adorable. Both kids, a boy and a girl, are now in school.
So Simone decided to get back into music and perform.
She walks out on stage to the applause of the audience, her fiance helping her find the piano as she sits and he adjusts the microphone for her.
Introductions are made with judge Trish Stratus chatting with Simone. The former pro wrestler asks Simone where she’s from and what this meant to her.
Simone replies that it’s a great opportunity in life and that it was her first time joining a competition.
And when Stratus asked her what reaction she’s hoping for?
“A standing ovation.”
Stratus, the other judges, and the audience applaud her for her confidence before Trish tells her to go ahead and perform.
Simone immediately launches into a powerful rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel”, playing the piano as her unbelievably stunning voice delivers the first few lines.
She throws all her soulful energy into the song, surprising the audience and all the other viewers around the world.
Helen Radin commented, “A truly amazing performance by a woman I can call my friend… I am so proud if you and Rick for making this happen. You do have a voice of an angel and that performance brought tears to my eyes… Keep it up and I will be with you every week..”
Lucky her to know Simone personally.
Another viewer was so impressed saying, “This woman is the real deal. She doesn’t try to hit you over the head with vocal gymnastics. A gifted, natural voice that immediately touches your soul. I believe Sarah would approve.”
And once Simone gets to the chorus, the stunned audience begins clapping for the amazing woman serenading them.
Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall, and Trish Stratus had nothing but smiles watching the talented lady awe her crowd.
And when Simone finished the song, her incredible performance had the audience and all four judges on their feet. Now remember that Simone cannot see anything.
But she can hear that roaring crowd.
“There is a standing ovation happening right now,” judge Lilly Singh told Soman.
“Really?” she said surprised as a huge smile broke out on her face before saying, “I love it! Thank you.”
The audience continued to cheer Simone, showering the returning singer with enthusiastic applause full of admiration and support. She truly deserves it with an amazing performance like that.
