It’s hard to name someone in the music industry with a list of accolades longer than that of David Foster.
The chart-topping songwriter and producer has worked with some of the biggest names in recent music history, having produced songs for stars like Chaka Khan, Christina Aguilera, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, and more.
Last year, Foster organized a one-night, all-star concert to honor his greatest hits. The event took place at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas and featured performances by a long list of famous names— but one special rendition took everyone by surprise.
Although the room was filled with A-list celebs, people couldn’t believe their eyes when the ever-lovable Michael Buble took the stage.
Cameras filmed as Foster and Buble chatted for a few moments before Buble suddenly asked him: “Is he here?”
As you can image, the audience was confused by his statement. But, before they could wonder much longer, country-singing sensation Blake Shelton takes the stage.
Turns out the Buble and Shelton had planned a special duet of the song “Home” for the occasion.
The audience wasn’t sure what to expect from a combination of Buble’s jazzy richness and Shelton’s country twang— but as soon as the singers opened their mouths, they immediately removed all doubt.
The song selection actually connects the three men on stage.
“Home” was released in 2005 as part of It’s Time, Buble’s second major studio album. But, what most people don’t know, however, is that Foster’s daughter Amy Foster-Gillies actually helped pen many of the lyrics.
Buble’s “Home” went on to become the number one song on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Later in 2008, Blake Shelton released his own cover of the track which was also successful, topping its respective Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
As you can imagine, Buble and Shelton bring the house down with their new version of “Home”.
Shelton’s country twang and Buble’s crooning richness each brings something different to the table. When you combine the two it makes for an unbelievable listening experience. As they sing, Foster plays piano in the background.
Since being uploaded to YouTube, the incredible duet has been viewed more than 7 million times.
“Beautiful song, wonderful duet…”
“Blake Shelton’s voice shows a strong masculine voice. Buble’s reflects his romance and downy. Both you guys melt girls hearts.”
“Love this duo! Home is where the heart is! Amazing voices and sounds.”
