Logan Riman is an incredibly talented 14-year-old piano player from Brooklyn. Logan was born blind, but he hasn’t let that stop him from following his dreams of playing music.
When Logan was a baby, his mother Leah realized that music calmed him down quicker than anything else. When he was just two years old, Logan began taking piano lessons. Logan was incredibly talented, and his mom soon realized that he was a piano prodigy!
Life isn’t always easy for Logan, but when he’s playing piano, all his troubles melt away.
“He gets bullied a lot, he gets judged a lot, but people shouldn’t do that,” Leah told CBS News. “He’s an incredible child, very smart, you get to know him, give him a chance, you’ll love him. Don’t judge people, give them their chance.”
In July 2019, Logan was invited to take part in Madison Square Garden’s Garden of Dreams program.
On their website, the Garden of Dreams Foundations says that their mission is to provide kids who are facing obstacles with unforgettable experiences. Through the foundation, these kids get to perform on stage, and they also get to meet performers when they’re playing at Madison Square Garden.
One of Logan’s favorite singers is Billy Joel—he even calls himself “Logan the Piano Man.” And so, when Billy Joel went to play at Madison Square Garden, Logan got to meet him.
Logan was so excited to meet Billy Joel, and Joel also enjoyed spending time with Logan. When Joel learned that Logan was a piano prodigy, he asked him to come onstage and play “Piano Man” with him.
Logan excitedly went onto the stage and sat down at the piano. Logan began playing “Piano Man,” and then Billy Joel joined in.
“Out of nowhere, Mr. Billy Joel was gracious enough to ask Logan if he wanted to join him on stage to play,” Leah said.
Logan loved getting to play with Joel, and Leah was so happy that her son got this amazing opportunity.
“I am so thankful to Garden of Dreams for literally fulfilling his dream, my dream for him,” Leah said.

Since meeting Billy Joel, Logan has been working on learning more of his songs. He’s now working on learning “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.”
During an interview, a reporter asked Logan what it was like to play with Billy Joel, and Logan said it was amazing:
“At Madison Square Garden, it was so cool,” Logan said. “That was amazing.”
