Students in a New York City public school get the surprise of their life when a normal exercise dance routine is warmly intervened!

In 2011, nearly one hundred students in Harlem’s P.S. 161 joined together to celebrate the “Let’s Move! Flash Workout” with a choreographed routine to Beyoncé’s “Move Your Body,” a revamp of her 2007 hit “Get Me Bodied.”

The students gathered together to participate in a national simulcast as part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign.

Their dance video features an awe-inspiring surprise from superstar to student.

Before the simulcast, the students group together in the gym wearing their official Let’s Move! T-shirts. The middle-schoolers give each other high-fives and smiles with excitement.

The girls move in unison, pouring out one dance move after another—but before long they get the surprise of a lifetime!

An unexpected guest enters the room at about a minute and a half into the video…and it’s the Queen B herself!

She runs in from the back of the gym, donning her own “Let’s Move!” shirt. She happily takes a spot in the center of the front row where she seamlessly blends herself into the exercise dance routine.

While some of the students gasp in delight, amazingly enough they don’t stop to miss a beat of the routine! Instead, they welcome the superstar and dance perfectly beside her. As Beyoncé steps in to perform her own dance moves alongside the students, you can tell they are well-practiced in their routine.

Let’s Move! is a campaign designed by Michelle Obama to support generations of healthy children.

It’s her initiative to combat areas such as childhood obesity and health so that kids may grow up strong to realize their full potential and dreams. The program works on resources and education to contribute to these goals.

Upon its inception, Obama declared that she would raise the bar in areas such as providing healthier school food, improving affordability and access to healthy food and increasing physical activity. These advancements would help her support her vision of a thriving new generation of kids.

Obama commented on her vision:

“In the end, as First Lady, this isn’t just a policy issue for me. This is a passion. This is my mission. I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition.”
