It’s been nearly 10 months since the world lost Betty White.
She passed on New Year’s Eve too, just a few weeks shy of turning 100.
Nobody lives forever, but some painful goodbyes can be felt by a lot more people when you’re someone like Betty White. It seemed the whole world loved her.
Saying goodbye to the Golden Girls star was definitely not how we all wanted 2022 to start, but Betty still left some of the sweetest memories with us.

If there’s one thing Betty White was known for, it was making people laugh. She had a natural talent for it. Whether her incredible delivery or the natural wit she carried about her.
And she was making people laugh even off-screen.

Her assistant, Kiersten Mikelas, showed us just how much she made people laugh even outside of film and TV.
Kiersten worked for Betty and now runs the late actress’s social media, shared some touching stories and photos of the actress.

Kiersten shared a photo of Betty which was one of the last photos of her ever taken, dated from the 20th of December, 2021.
The photo contained Betty sitting on a sofa chair and smiling brightly at the camera.
And to think that this was her in her last few days! Being one of the last photos of her ever taken is a big deal. Seeing someone just shortly before they passed away is always a lot to take in.
Kiersten also had a sweet story to share about Betty as well.
She was just as much a friend as she was an assistant.
When Kiersten told her that she’d been dumped by her boyfriend, Betty responded “Well, now I guess we need to rename one of the ducks!”.
Yeah, turns out she’d named one of the ducks after the man – presumably after growing to like him when Kiersten brought him to visit.
But as with every ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, you really don’t want something that’ll remind you of them to stick around. Giving the duck a new name was a pretty good call, even if she might’ve been mostly joking with that remark.
“The duck who shall not be named?” she continued while Kiersten was still crying.

Betty clearly wanted to cheer her up, and it seemed to be working.

“Oh, honey, we can just call him the duck who sucks!” This finally worked and Kiersten stopped crying. Who needs a boyfriend when you have Betty White?
