The world can’t get enough of Betty White, and everyone wants to know more about her. If you were wondering about her celebrity crush, she hasn’t been shy about sharing it with everyone. She has confessed her love for Robert Redford on more than one occasion.
In a recent interview with “ET’s” Kevin Frazier, she was asked about her celebrity crush.
She didn’t hesitate to answer: “Robert Redford.”
When she was asked if they had ever met, she said:
“Oh no! If I ever met him, I would faint.”
That wasn’t the only thing Betty was willing to dish about.
Kevin asked the question everyone is wondering. He wanted to know the secret to living to such a ripe old age. She said:
“It is still a secret to me. No, but I think it’s good health. I am so healthy, and at 94, you don’t expect to be that healthy. And I love what I do.”
She also made it a point to tell her fans how much she appreciates them.
While some celebrities get annoyed when they go places and are constantly being called out by fans when they just want to enjoy a normal day out, Betty doesn’t mind it. She explained:
“Please know how deeply I appreciate it. When you walk into some place and a perfect stranger is your friend and that’s a great privilege.”
Betty is best known for her character of Rose on the “Golden Girls.” It ran between 1985 and 1992 and received 68 Emmy nominations and 11 wins throughout its run. It’s listed as number 69 on Deadline’s ranking of the “101 Best Written TV Series of All Time.”
Betty talked about the show during an interview with Closer Weekly.
She said:
“You get a lot of scripts mailed to you and not too many of them are good, but when this one came along it just hit the spot and they sent it to each of us. They sent it to me with the idea of me doing Blanche. Jay Sandrich, who was our director for most of the ‘Mary Tyler Moore’ shows, said ‘If Betty plays another nymphomaniac, they are going to think it is Sue Ann Nivens all over again.’ He said, ‘why don’t we switch them?’”
She talked about working with the other stars of the show, as well, and said that they had as much fun off the set as they did on the show.
She said:
“The first table read was an experience. I had worked with Bea, I had done a couple of guest shots on ‘Maude.’ I had worked with Rue on ‘Mama’s Family.’ Estelle was a new one to all of us. She came from New York after her hit. We all sat down for the first table read and somebody read a line and then somebody else read a line. It was the most exciting … We all began to look at each other because there wasn’t any first reading feeling about it. It was like we had been working together forever. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.”
Betty has managed to work on television and star on movies throughout most of her life.
Anyone who watches her act knows that she is talented and hilarious. While she can deliver some of the funniest lines we have ever heard, she can also get serious. She has many serious roles, as well, although most people prefer to see her in the comedic ones. Either way, she always leaves us wanting more.
She has had a long career and a full life, and we all hope she continues to stay healthy and make us laugh. Hopefully, she also gets to meet Robert Redford and doesn’t faint. Betty is the ultimate actress and woman. Robert doesn’t know what he’s missing.
