The only thing better than seeing an awesome musician putting on a show is seeing that spectacle times four.
That’s right, this is an impromptu quartet of some of the greatest guitarists in history and it’s sure to brighten up your day.
Without further ado, let’s enjoy these legends doing their thing.
The title can be whatever you want, but the thrill is surely on and not gone.
We have to learn from these four amazing men: it’s not about what you look like, it’s about the way you live and the way you treat others.
The video was filmed at the 2010 Crossroads festival at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. It’s short footage featuring B.B.King, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, and Jimmie Vaughan, but other famous artists also appeared during the show.
Let’s just remember that Sheryl Crow, Joe Bonamassa, and Robert Randolph also had an act.
Turning back to the amazing four, B.B.King somehow reminds us of a grandfather of great music who sat down to play with his grandchildren. It’s not a secret that B.B.King was a legend, and he inspired everyone around him.
The man set some standards, and it’s amazing to see his younger colleagues giving him so much respect and credit.
If you’re about to learn from someone, better learn from the best, and B.B. King was the best.
“The Thrill Is Gone” was released in 1951.
Can you imagine it? More then half a century has already gone since then.
You can see the King in a colorful shirt, it’s like he’s celebrating the life, the music, and the way they all got together to play. This is truly a masterpiece of legends sharing the stage and playing blues. Anyway, B.B. King recorded his version of “The Thrill Is Gone” in 1969. It earned him a Grammy Award for Bst Male R&B Vocal Performance.
That’s the song they’re playing, and it turned out fantastically.
Everything you need is right here: King’s Lucille, three strats, an excellent bass tone, a great drummer, and the most delicious melodic low-end. The video quality is amazing, and you’ll enjoy it from the first second on!
In the end, you’ll realize that 15 minutes is not enough for such an audio treat.
In case you’re asking yourself who is Lucille, we have to remind you that it’s the name B.B. King gave to his guitar. It also has to be pointed out that King’s vocals are impeccable.
The iconic blues musician has shown us, once again, that blues is not about how good you play it—it’s about how good you feel while playing it.
You’ll be amazed by the grand finale.
If nothing else did, which is highly doubtful, then the ending will amaze you completely.
Of course, we knew that something wonderful was about to happen as soon as we saw Clapton, Cray, and Vaughan on board.
In the end, all festival performers return to the stage and unite with four guitarists to perform together.
We expected nothing less—blues has been waiting for this. This 10-year-old video got over four million YouTube views!
It’s been five years since The King of the Blues passed away.
He introduced us to a technique of string bending to get a different sound, a shimmering vibrato that inspired many guitarists later.
We would love to see the remaining three blues guitarists getting together to pay a tribute to this show and to B.B. The funniest part we will always remember is when King says: “I’d like to thank these three young men here.” Eric Clapton, for example, was 65 at the time! Seems like the blues make you feel forever young.
