Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

It is a type of dance where the dancer should be graceful yet passionate, light as a feather yet precise. To become a professional ballet dancer takes roughly eight to ten years for them to master their craft. Their training starts at a very young age so their talent and skills can be harnessed well. But the rigorous training doesn’t end there.

Even if a ballerina has been hired by a professional ballet company, she should still attend ballet class six days a week to keep themselves fit and aware.

In a video uploaded by a famous dance company in Seattle, Washington, we are given a peek at one of their rehearsals, featuring “Dance of the Cygnets” from one of the most famous classical ballet dances in the world, “Swan Lake.”

In their 40th anniversary season, Pacific Northwest Ballet decided to celebrate it by uploading a rehearsal.

The ballet “Swan Lake” was composed by famous Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The light-hearted “Dance of the Cygnets,” also known as “Dance of the Little Swans,” is performed by moving sideways in exact unison with their arms interlaced.

Thus you can see four girls locking arms with each other before they start their routine. Their names are Carli Samuelson, Amanda Clark, Liora Neuville and Leta Biasucci. The rehearsal is led by ballet master Anne Dabrowski.

As expected from ballerinas, these girls have an upright carriage and majestic grace resembling that of a little swan.

All of the dancers are in unison, something that is deemed critical in a group ballet performance as you must move and breathe as one. You can’t afford to make any mistakes since it will ruin your performance.

Pacific Northwest Ballet is one of the largest and most highly regarded ballet companies in the United States. It was founded in 1972.

The company’s greatness in ballet definitely shows how they nurture and utilize their student’s capabilities.

Fast footwork, high jumps and dizzying turns are only a few of the things ballerinas are very adept at.

The other ballerinas are also doing their best to practice on their own at the back near the barre.

The sound of the pointe shoes tapping on the floor is satisfying and relaxing.

The entire time, they keep up with all the steps perfectly and they barely seem to break a sweat.

These four girls are clearly determined to be as good at ballet as possible, and this video shows off their power perfectly.

You can see the burning flame of passion glowing in their eyes. They look so effortless when they perform—it’s like they aren’t tired even though by the end, they’re totally out of breath. Performances like this one show just how good people can be at the things they care about. Even if we’re not ballet dancers ourselves, it’s easy to appreciate the skill that these young women have!
