There’s always something exciting about watching a live performance. Particularly when the act is so unique.
When you normally think of ballerinas, you probably think of tights and tutus. But you wouldn’t be wrong. That is the standard ballerina attire after all. But where they (sometimes) lack in costume creativity, they make up for in dance.
Possibly taking inspiration from a dance film on Netflix titled, You Can Tutu, three ballerinas decided to give the routine a go for themselves. Though the popular ballet, “The Nutcracker” has been performed numerous times on various stages, you simply don’t know what you’re going to get.
While performing to Tchaikovsky’s, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” a major twist was added to the beat. It was made more modern and upbeat. In fact, it was turned into house music.
If that wasn’t enough of a twist for you, the women are dressed in LED-lit tutus. Lucky for us because otherwise, we might not be able to see them. The stage is dark and plain. The only light present comes from their attire.
Though there are only three ballerinas, they do quite the job to keep their audience entertained. Most of their dance steps require one taking the lead and the others follow. It starts to become a bit mesmerizing after a while. Perhaps, that’s the LEDs at work.
Although they are wearing the typical ballerina attire (minus the lights), their routine is far from the traditional ballerina routine. Sure, there are some plies, poses, and leg kicks but some of the movements appear to be less constricted and serious.
This is a performance meant to be fun and light-hearted. Do I have to mention the lights again?
In all honesty, the women might remind you of fairies. The way they interact with one another and tap their toes and utilize their hands. They can easily be in a rendition of Peter Pan as Tinkerbell and friends and nobody would bat an eye.
Many of the viewers in the comments recognized the routine from the Netflix film. According to some viewers, the young girls performed the same routine.

The ballerinas are a London-based ballet company represented by Contraband Entertainment. According to their website, the LED ballerina team has performed all over the world.
“Our LED ballerinas are classically trained ballerinas with specialist technique in ballet and pointe work with experience performing with ballet companies such as The Kirov, Bolshoi and English National Ballet. They create fully costumed, small and large scale ballet performances for events, parties, gala’s, weddings, PR launches and festivals.”
They continue to say that the dancers can perform just about anything from classics like The Nutcracker and Swan Lake to a personalized routine specific to their client’s event.
