Most kids prefer Baby Shark, but this sweet toddler was brought to tears by a classic Beethoven sonata.

Beethoven is known as one of the best (if not the best) composers that has ever lived. His music written in the early 1800s has survived the test of time and is still well respected and loved more than 200 years later!

His classical music can be emotional, and has inspired countless other talented musicians throughout the ages, including this toddler in Tampa, Florida.

While most kids can’t stop listening to Baby Shark (that’s stuck in your head now, sorry not sorry), little Tyler Noftz was so moved by Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata that it brought him to tears.

Perhaps it was a combination of pride and the appreciation of the music, which was being played by his older sister at her piano recital.

The two-year-old sat on his father’s lap for the performance, and quickly for teary eyed. His parents started recording his heartwarming reaction to listening to this piece for the first time.

When Tyler’ father, Josh shared the video to Facebook, it quickly went viral.

The little guy is so overcome with emotion, and looking around to see if anyone else is losing their cool too.

But it looks like most of the other people in the room are just focused on supporting their children. They’ve probably heard this piece one hundred times before, but not Tyler.

He’s trying his very best to hold back the tears.

Tyler’s dad sweetly tries to comfort him and let him know it’s okay to cry and feel all the feelings!

With such an immediate emotional connect to the sonata, his parents should put him in some music classes ASAP. He could channel those feelings into beautiful songs of his own one day.

His dad even wipes the tears from his son’s eyes to comfort him. The little guy is so overcome with emotion that it’s making me emotional too.

I’ve never seen a toddler so focused on anything before in my life. Beethoven’s music really does work magic!

Music that makes us the saddest is usually the kind that evokes significant memories. Lost love, new love, nostalgia, hard times, etc.

I’m not sure what heartbreak Tyler could have experienced at two-years-old, or deep memories he could be nostalgic about. But the music is clearly evoking an emotional response for some reason or another!

A music critic from Beethoven’s time said the song reminded him of the moon setting over Lake Lucerne, in Italy. Even though I’ve never been there, I can totally understand.

Beethoven wrote this piece in 1801, when he was 30 years old. His hearing was already starting to deteriorate by this point, but he didn’t become completely deaf until he was 45.

Obviously, the loss of his hearing was devastating for the composer, but he didn’t let it stop him.

The talented musician continued to compose beautiful songs even after this one, working from memory and imagining the sounds in his mind.

That’s some true dedication to your craft!

The internet fell in love with Tyler’s adorable reaction to the classical piece. And how his dad comforted him during the song, instead of trying to make him to stop or toughen up.

The two seem to have a really nice, close relationship. And boy do they ever look similar!

Another commenter suggested a spooky yet beautiful theory. Could little Tyler be the famous Beethoven reincarnated in the body of a two year old American boy?

Probably not, but it’s a beautiful thought that he would be able to come back and appreciate the sound of his own music again.

Tyler has grown up quite a lot, but I hope he’s just as in tune with his emotions, and still loves classical music!

Here he is with his dad Josh, and the rest of the family a few years after the video was shared.
