Some people just have rhythm and soul running through their veins and 10-year-old Calum Courtney of Essex is one of those people.

Calum has a mild form of autism and knows how much a good song can soothe and uplift the spirit.

That’s why he decided to belt out a song in the middle of the supermarket so that others can too be blessed with the joy of hearing a good song.

And boy can that kid sing! A fact that he just recently discovered for himself.

“He loves how it feels and hearing the sound of his voice when he sings,” Calum’s mother Tupney told Independent. “He is always singing around the house and performing in public has never been a problem. The more people, the better for Calum when he is performing. He did not realize how good he was until he saw the video, he said: ‘Mum, I’m actually really good.'”

His entire performance of Smokey Robinson’s “Who’s Lovin’ You” was caught on video and ended up going viral after his aunt posted it on Facebook.

“Calum has high functioning autism,” his mom explains. “For Calum, his means blurred social boundaries, struggles with school and difficulties with friendships, but also that enables him to have no fear to get up and belt out a song. We describe his autism to him as a superpower, it may take a little from other areas of life but it’s given him the superpower of music.”

Calum’s soulful voice reminds me of Michael Jackson when he was young and in the Jackson 5.

“He has no nerves, if there’s an audience, if there’s anybody from one to 100 people to sing in front of he loves it, he just loves to sing,” Tupney said. “He taught himself to play the drums when he was 18-months-old and he’s just incredible with music, it’s in his blood. Both my parents were on the West End and he takes after that.”

Calum has sung for charitable autism organizations before and recently was asked to record a charity single after the video went viral.

He has already started recording that single

“The only way he will know if he wants to do it as a career is if he tries it because it is not easy,” his mother said. “He thinks he’s gonna be able to buy a mansion, he has a bit of an obsession with building them on Minecraft.”

Those who watched his video were incredibly impressed by him.

“Bright shinning up and coming star, isle 1,” said one YouTuber.
