I don't think I've ever cried this hard with a song, so moving.

Country singer Mitch Rossell arrived on “America’s Got Talent,” and moved the four judges and audience to tears with his song, “Son”.

A song that is “definitely the most personal thing I’ve ever written.”

His original work has a moving story, which he shares before going on stage.

Before his audition, he spoke with the producers regarding his upbringing in east Tennessee.

Of how he often rode in the car with his dad while listening to country music.

It was how he bonded with his father, who even bought him a guitar and encouraged him to learn how to play.

But Rossell, now 35, said he was “too rambunctious” as a kid so he didn’t take the time to learn how to play.

He was 10 years old when he lost his father to a “freak accident” in the small town of Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

A drunk driver had hit his grandfather’s vehicle, sending him into the other lane, where Rossell’s father and grandmother-in-law were about to pass in their van.

Sadly, all three lost their lives.

Sometime later, when clarity returned after a few years, he decided he’d find a connection to his late father by learning the guitar.

“It was the only thing he ever really asked me to do. I felt like I was kinda making him proud.”

He went on to fulfill his father’s wish.

So the East Tennessee native, now a father himself, performed his song, his personal letter of love to his late dad.

The lyrics immediately captured everyone’s attention, and even the four judges were listening intently.

And then you realize that Rossell has an incredible voice.

It’s got that country twang, a deep, relaxing tone to it, but with a lot of soul and a lot of passion.

Rossell sings his heart out, serenading his audience, who by now were visibly emotional.

And as he sings the last words and strums the last chord, a silence falls over the place, before erupting in cheers and a standing ovation.

What did the judges have to say?

“You wrote a beautiful song there,” Heidi Klum said. “I feel like everyone in this room was feeling everything you were singing.”

Howie Mandel then added,

“The words and the emotion that you sing with, you know, as a father also, I have three kids and the world revolves around you. What a great sentiment, what beautiful words, such simple brilliance.”

Sofia Vergara praised the country singer saying, “That was spectacular, your voice was amazing, the song was amazing.”

They are so right.

Simon Cowell went on to say that he “loved every part of that” – the voice, song. “It was a compliment you could hear a pin drop during the entire performance. And it was sincere. I really really think people are going to connect with you, the song. This was a great audition. Brilliant.”

Everyone connected with Rossell.
