In a child’s life, there are many moments that they need their parents’ love and support.
The first day of school, the morning of a big test, when they compete in something for the first time – the list goes on and on.
For military parents, some of these moments sadly have to be missed. Whether the parent is deployed overseas or busy with a mission, the parent tends to miss out on a lot over the course of several months.
But, many parents learn how to adapt. They work in Skype calls, send letters, make phone calls, and just about everything they can to be there for their children.
One Army father went above and beyond the call of duty and the internet is now applauding him.
Army Sgt. Robert Lange orchestrated a very big surprise for his 9-year-old daughter and it is something that she will never forget.
Robert’s daughter, MiKayla, was set to go to a competition with Koach All-Stars Cheerleading and Tumbling, but the day before their competition, the parents held an event for the children. At the event, the cheer dads surprised their daughters by putting together their own routine.
Sadly, Robert could not be there in person to take part in the event. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t there in spirit – and via video.
When Robert learned what the other dads were going to do, he originally planned to appear in a video to surprise his daughter, while wearing a cheerleading shirt. Then, he decided to put together an even bigger surprise for his daughter.
Robert got his unit together, as he’s been deployed in the Middle East for six months, and they made up their own routine!
After the other cheer dads were done, Robert popped up on the screen to say hi to MiKayla, then he and his unit debuted their cheer for everyone. They only practiced this twice before performing it!
The video has warmed the heart of thousands after it was posted online.
Robert’s wife, Madison, posted a link to an article about the video and wrote a caption on her personal Facebook page:
First off, my husband is the most amazing dad EVER! And a big thank you to all the soldiers that helped him make this happen. AND thank you to ALL my family at Koach!
This moment was worth keeping the prep a secret for a month and all the anxiety I had that night hoping it would play out smoothly.
Thanks to all those “BadDads” for an outstanding performance, flags, and flowers. This video def shows the love her dad and Coaches have for her.
What it does not show is how much all the families that go to Koach love each other, it doesn’t show the teammates that came over to comfort MiKayla when she was crying watching the video. (Shoutout B and Addi). We love all of you, Koach Now off to get Day 2
Great job being there for your daughter Robert, she is never going to forget this moment! She probably will never let him live it down either.
