Nowadays, long-lasting marriage is rare, especially for celebrity couples.
We’ve grown to know that some Hollywood couples always seemed to have this fairytale love story only to end up broken up or divorced.
Somehow, it makes us cynical whenever we hear news of couples dating or getting married because we assume it will only end after many years.
But celebrity couple Warren Beatty and Annette Bening had something good going.
The couple’s family, friends, and fans did not expect the two to get married.

Aside from their age gap of 21 years, the concern was more of Warren’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most legendary bachelors.
He dated multiple celebrities in his entire career since the 1960s, including Diane Keaton, Madonna, and Julie Christie.
It wasn’t until he met Annette in his film Bugsy that he changed his ways.
It didn’t take long for Warren to realize that Annette was the one.
He recalled that she caught his attention during a meeting to prepare for the film. And while he made a rule not to make a move on Annette while filming, he broke that and asked her out for dinner. Annette was hesitant but agreed to it anyway. The rest is history.
Warren and Annette got married in 1992 at the age of 55 and 34, respectively.

Despite all the doubts from the people around them, the two are still happily married up to this date – almost 30 years now. Together, they had four children – Stephen, Benjamin, Isabel, and Ella. Warren may have walked out on his bachelor life, but he did not regret doing so.
“The most important thing that’s ever happened — the best thing that’s ever happened to me — was Annette and having four kids,” he said in an interview with TODAY.
So, what’s the key to their lasting marriage? Respect.
The couple has this mutual respect as spouse, parent, and actors. They do not only enact this upon themselves but on their children as well. Warren believed in that so much that he stepped away from the limelight to steer his children away from the spotlight that their parents had.
“It is a burden, I think, to have two parents that are well-known, so I completely respect their privacy. I could go and on… talking about them because they’re brilliant and fun. But no, I think you have to give them a break, and they have their privacy,” he told People.
The couple also mastered drawing the line between personal and work life.
Work can be hectic for both actors, and finding that balance is not easy. But Warren and Annette knew the boundaries of their individuality as actors while caring for their family. The children’s arrival may have halted date nights for a while, but as soon as the kids were older, the couple brought back the spark of romance in their lives. What an incredible balance!

They still know how to keep each other excited by surprising each other. In their interview during the Rules Don’t Apply premiere, Warren said that his wife still surprises him every day. Annette also said the same thing about her husband, adding that he does the most unexpected things.
