The song “A Million Dreams” is from the movie The Greatest Showman, and is sung by the young P. T. Barnum (Ziv Zaifman) to his future wife Charity Hallett (Michelle Williams), wherein he tells her his dreams that he wants to fulfill as he grows older.
It’s a song fit for kids as it speaks about goals and visions that ambitious young people usually have, thirsting to prove themselves to the world.
So meet Angelica Hale, a fourteen year old Filipino-American singer from Georgia.
She competed in the 12th season of America’s Got Talent.
At just 4 years old, Angelica contracted double pneumonia due to an aggressive Strep Pneumococcal bacterial infection.
She was put on ECMO life-support at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston.
Hale went septic, experiencing multiple organ failure. Her kidneys did not recover.
Hemodialysis and later peritoneal dialysis became a part of the young Angelica’s life.
Which makes her singing all the more impressive.
Accompanying Hale on violin is another talented young lady named Karolina Protsenko.
She was born in Ukraine but grew up in America, and music runs in the family.
Karolina’s YouTube channel has 6.17 million subscribers.
This impressive duet with Hale on vocals and Protsenko on violin is pure aural pleasure.
This viewer knows it.
“The magical voice of Angelica Hale together with the magical music of Karolina Protsenko. Together, this results in incredible performance, incredible when you consider the age of these girls and then such a professional performance. All attention. What skill and what performance is shown here is incredible. Thanks for the video.”
Two girls barely into their teens are taking the world by storm.
Hale spent nearly a hundred days in the hospital after a chemically induced coma for her treatments.
On September 13, 2013, she received a life-saving kidney transplant from her mother.
That’s after a year and a half on dialysis.
This is Angelica singing her heart out, telling the world that she’s yet to fulfill all her visions and dreams.
And Karolina, with her inedible hands, provides a rich background to Hale’s stunning vocal range.
It’s safe to say these two girls are good friends.
Just look at the way they smile at each other!
It’s like their song. The lyrics could be for the best of friends!
Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it’s gonna take
A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make
