On America’s Got Talent, there have been many many choirs, but they don’t often get very far in the competition.
When there are so many people on stage, it actually can be harder to make a good impression, versus one single performer.
However, Angel City Chorale made their mark. They are a massive choir of 160 people, from diverse backgrounds that came together to make a difference.
When speaking with the judges ahead of the audition, Angel City Chorale’s founder Sue Fink was asked by Simon Cowell why a choir had never won AGT before.
She told him that because all of those other choirs weren’t them! Safe to say she has a lot of confidence in her group, and with good reason.
For their audition, Angel City Chorale performed “Africa” by Toto. To start out the audition, they 160-person choir began snapping their fingers, slapping their thighs, and stomping their feet before they started singing.
The audience was on their feet and cheering throughout the entire performance.
Howie Mandel said:
“I love the way this audition began. Talk about taking an audition by storm, you really, literally took it by storm. It was amazing!”
While Heidi Klum commented on what she loved most:
I liked it very much. My favorite part is when you were interacting with the audience. I really loved it.”
The highest praise from Simon. The typically tough judge said:
“I just felt there was something magical about hearing you all sing together. When a song works and the vocals work, it just washes all over you and you feel amazing. And that’s what great choirs can do. You’ve got a fantastic combined energy. This was a great audition, I’m going to remember this for a long time.”
All four judges loved the audition and gave Angel City Chorale four yeses and sent them further into the competition.
America’s Got Talent shared the audition on their Facebook page and in just two days, the video got over 4.2 million views, 74,000 likes, over 5,000 comments, and over 64,000 shares.
Many commenters were quick to voice their opinions on the performance. One Facebook user got chills watching this:

While another commenter said:
I normally can’t stand choirs. They usually sing boring songs & I just want them to be over with. But I LOVED the choir 2nite! The song was moving & all the different skin colors just made it that much BETTER! Love! Love! Love! Definitely my fav act of the night.
One Facebook commenter is actually related to someone in the choir:
My dad’s been in Angel City Chorale for 14 years! Such an exciting accomplishment for such a deserving group If you have the opportunity to go to one of their concerts, you should do it. You won’t be disappointed!
