At this point, most of us have heard the name “Andrea Bocelli”. The singer/songwriter has been performing music for years! His clear and strong voice has earned him the title of the “world’s most beloved tenor”! His personal story, recombination with his talent, makes for one incredible individual.

When Bocelli was a kid, he was diagnosed with glaucoma.

The eye disease soon manifested itself fully when he was 12 years old and playing soccer outside. Rendered completely blind, Bocelli didn’t let that stop him from accomplishing some of the most incredible things in his lifetime.

Opera singer, songwriter, and record producer, Bocelli has done it all.

One of the songs on his new record covers the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

As far as songs go, You’ll Never Walk Alone is a massive hit! Written decades ago by Gerry and the Pacemakers, the song is still sung, probably due to its rousing lyrics and uplifting meaning!

Even today, the song is still passionately performed by Liverpool fans during certain games as a reminder that once you are a Liverpool fan, you are never alone. With thousands of people all singing and cheering, it’s hard not to feel a sense of community and happiness! It’s that same spirit that you hear when Andrea Bocelli performs his version.

In the video’s opening, you can tell this is a uniquely “Bocelli” version of the song.

The original version was by Gerry and the Pacemakers, and you can immediately tell the “flavor” is different in the Bocelli version. Probably influenced by his time in the opera, Bocelli slows down the song a bit and is more grandiose in his performance.

With sweeping strings and powerful, clear vocals, the song is wonderful to listen to.

If the original is like having a beer with friends, the Bocelli version is like a cup of dark roast coffee with smooth cream! The sweeping lyrics and instrumentation lift the song to opera-like levels.

When Bocelli hits the famous line, he gives it all he’s got!

The line “You’ll never walk alone” is often shouted as loud as one can shout! When Bocelli hits the line, you are thrown headlong into an opera house by his powerful and striking voice, pounding through the melody. The gap left by the end of him singing almost sounds inappropriate after listening to him sing for the 3:24 timespan of the video.

It’s always wonderful to see different people’s interpretations of a song.

The cool part is that no matter what, the meaning of the song holds true. At the end of the day, none of us are alone in the storm. We truly will never walk alone.
