Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli, has been gifting the world beautiful music for a long time now. But just recently, it was his wife that he wanted to present a special surprise to – and it was all captured on film.
Andrea married Veronica Berti in 2014 and they have a wonderful life together in Tuscany. As a way to show his appreciation for her support throughout the years, he concocted a romantic plan to serenade his bride with a song.
Andrea Bocelli released the album Sì, which has since been nominated for a Grammy. He later released a deluxe version titled, Sì Forever (The Diamond Edition).
The extended album featured added solos and duets – including one he sang with musical artist, Ellie Goulding, called “Return to Love.” Andrea decided to sing his wife the special Christmas rendition of the track.
In order to keep his mission a secret, Andrea had Veronica blindfolded before she sat in the backseat of a car. She had no clue what was going on, or where she was going.
Andrea waited patiently for his wife’s arrival. Once she walked into the room, he removed her blindfold to reveal the surprise.
Veronica was stunned to see her husband surrounded by glittering lights and candles. Andrea then held her lovingly and explained:
“After so many works and so many days, just to involve Hesiod as well, trying to surprise you was rather difficult – however, I have tried to…”
Veronica admitted, “No, you did surprise me indeed!” However, it was just the beginning.
Andrea led his wife through the festively decorated home until they reached a piano and a small choir. It would be her own private performance of “Return to Love (Christmas Version).”
While playing the piano, Andrea began singing lyrics that were in English. Veronica then took a seat next to her husband and watched him closely. There’s no question her heart was bursting with love at that moment.
Andrea Bocelli made a switch to his native Italian language and the backup vocalists joined in.
Like other songs, “Return to Love (Christmas Version)” is a combination of the languages – switching back and forth. He has the ability to sing beautifully in both.
uDiscover Music reported that an orchestra and gospel choir were used when recording the holiday rendition of the song.
In the video, snapshots are shown of the couple from throughout the years. It’s the perfect added touch.
According to Front View Magazine, Andrea Bocelli said the following about, “Return to Love”:
“Every love is special and yet always follows the same law: the same love that grows the seed makes the flower bloom. This song imitates the awakening of the heart, the awareness of a renewed ability to love.”
It’s a song and surprise wrapped into one heartwarming package. People around the world have been leaving comments on the video.

“This was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. The love you guys have for each other shines through from the glow on your faces to the spark in your eyes. I don’t understand Italian but Andrea Bocelli proves you don’t need to understand a language to love it. May you guys always be blessed and happy.”
While we can’t all present our spouses with a surprise quite like this – it goes to show that sometimes the greatest gifts aren’t in packages at all.
