Even during this tough time, Andrea Bocelli continues to lift spirits across the globe through the power of music.
On November 20th, the Italian tenor released a brand new video for his cover of “Hallelujah,” and it too is taking people’s breath away. The song comes from his most recent album, Believe, which is a compilation of soul-stirring classics that have been inspirational to Bocelli in his life.
Bocelli’s video for “Hallelujah” is a magnificent blend of music and visuals.
It was filmed on the rocky cliffs of Porto Venere, Italy, where he is joined by a group of dancers. Bocelli stuns with his beautiful vocals, all while they interpret the lyrics with their movements.
The following was included in the YouTube video description:
“We are proud to present the fourth single ‘Hallelujah’, which represents the messages of unity and hope that run through the core of Andrea Bocelli’s brand new album, Believe, available to order now.”
In the video, Bocelli and the dancers climb the rocks, creating a powerful scene.
As one would hope, Bocelli sings “Hallelujah” in both English and Italian.
Many artists have covered Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” over the years, but the opera singer gives it a special twist going back and forth between the languages. Not only is his version touching hearts – it has some feeling teary too. One person commented:
“Absolutely wonderful. I’m a 25 year old man with tears in my eyes after hearing such beauty. My late grandmother was a big follower of Andrea. She always said “God may have taken his sight, but God gave him the gift of his voice.”
Andrea Bocelli discovers a church at the top of the cliff.
The chapel is full of glowing candles and becomes the next backdrop for the world-renowned singer. If you’re someone who chills easily – just wait until he hits the high notes, sounding like an angel sent from up above.
Bocelli’s version of “Hallelujah” has a strong connection to faith. He told USA TODAY:
“The melody was singing inside myself as a prayer – that’s how I felt it.”
It’s over four-and-a-half minutes of artistic beauty.
The dancers take position on the church’s balcony, interpreting “Hallelujah” through their expressive moves. Combined with the song and the picturesque scenery – it’s nothing less than divine.
Bocelli’s new album Believe was released on November 13th.
On the tracklist are uplifting classics like “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Ave Maria.” It also contains several duets, including a version of “Amazing Grace,” which he sings with the Grammy award-winning, bluegrass-country artist, Alison Krauss.

According to PR Newswire, Bocelli provided the following explanation about his album:
“The concept behind ‘Believe’ is based on three words: faith, hope and charity. These are the three theological virtues of Christianity, yet – quite independently of any religious belief – they are also the three extraordinary keys to giving meaning and completeness to the lives of every one of us.”
