When you think of ice skating, typically a cowgirl isn’t the first picture to enter your mind. But one little girl dressed in western-wear showed everyone that “cowgirls” do indeed mix perfectly (and adorably) with the sport.
Alexis is a youngster who had been taking ice skating lessons and had reached the point of her first competition. Fortunately for us, a camera was rolling to capture her performance – which not only earned her first-place, it turned out super-cute too!
Moms and dads tend to be their kids’ biggest cheerleaders when it comes to sports. However, it doesn’t usually start out with kids being all-star athletes. There are those beginning years where they’re just little pee-wees and probably need the most encouragement of all.
Since it was Alexis’ first time competing on the ice, likely she was “shaking in her boots.” She wasn’t alone though and had her support system on the sidelines.
Dressed in a cow-print skirt and a pink vest with a star – she entered the ice rink looking ready for a hoedown! Little did the audience know that’s exactly what was going to take place.
Get ready for a funky country routine set to Miley Cyrus’ “Hoedown Throwdown.” It’s a song that comes from her days as Disney’s Hannah Montana.
As soon as the “boom boom clap” lyrics fill the arena, Alexis goes into action. She claps along and then breaks out into a small spin, landing on one foot. Especially for a lot of us who can’t ice skate – it’s hard to imagine just staying upright, let alone twirling!
Alexis then takes off gliding around the rink. She lifts her leg while skating and even throws in a good lasso move.

The youngster comes to a stop and shakes her hips to the country-rap track. She keeps looking to the side of the rink, perhaps to get some guidance from her coach.
Amazingly, Alexis then busts out skating completely backwards! She keeps a huge smile on her face showing off the skill, which you gotta admit, is pretty impressive.
As we know though, nobody’s perfect. Over a minute into her routine Alexis has a bit of a “whoopsie.”
While skating forward, the cowgirl accidentally slips and falls on the ice. Ouch! Yet, instead of being upset – she gets right back up and pretends like it never happened. Atta girl!
Viewers have complimented this brave move as well, with one commenting:

For it being Alexis’ first competition, she seemed to do a fantastic job. The results weren’t too bad either!
