When anyone under the age of 17 is able to get up on stage and put on a show, I’m automatically surprised. The guts it takes to get over the stage fright and give it your all seems totally unthinkable for a little kid.
But there are some children out there who know what their destiny in life is early on, and they make sure to chase that dream full steam ahead.
There are many different iterations of The Voice across the globe, but perhaps one of the most fun to watch is The Voice Kids Australia. Little ladies and gentlemen step out onto the big stage, often barely reaching a meter tall, and fill the room with their gorgeous voices. It’s truly inspiring.
What’s even better, though, is the look of pride and joy that they wear on their faces when things go well. In a world where test scores and the pressures of a successful career are starting to trickle down to very young ages, the encouragement to follow their dreams is so special, especially on this large scale.
When this young woman, Alexa, steps onto the stage and an Alicia Keys song starts to play, you know that it’s going to be one for the books. She’s just 10 years old, and she’s about to attempt to hold a candle to one of the most celebrated female vocalists of our time. No big deal!
But when she opens her mouth, you almost wouldn’t believe that she’s just hit the double digits with her years on Earth.
Her voice is so crystal clear, and the way she’s able to accomplish all of those quick runs as if it was a breezy walk in the park has the judges reaching for their buzzers already.
Everyone in the room starts cheering for her to get to the chorus because they know that that’s when the magic happens!
And once it does? That’s what makes the first judge hit her buzzer and swivel her chair around, securing a spot for Alexa to move onto the next round of the competition.
Alexa’s mother backstage is absolutely overflowing with pride and undying support for her sweet daughter. Imagine being a mother in her position, watching your baby girl perform in front of a panel of famous judges, not to mention the entire national television audience, and absolutely blow everyone away. What a special moment indeed!
Sooner or later, the second judge hits the buzzer, giving Alexa a choice of judges.
But, who will she pick?
Her sweet demeanor, her powerful voice, and her loving family and support team will surely carry her far in this competition, but it really all comes down to who she chooses for a judge because that person will be the one to strategically shape their trajectory.
