Ice skating may just be the most graceful sport in the world. Can I prove that statement?

Absolutely not. This video, however, might.

In May of this year, Alexsandra Trusova performed an incredibly difficult routine that has since blown up across the internet.

Trusova is a Russian figure skater who has been skating since 2008. The talented young girl is only 17 years old, showing the world that age clearly has no place when considering someone’s skill!

If that wasn’t enough, check out this INSANE excerpt from her Wikipedia page:

Trusova is the first female skater to land the quad Lutz, quad flip, and quad toe loop jumps, the second to land the quad Salchow (after Miki Ando), and the first to land two and three ratified quads in a free skate, achieved at the 2018 Junior World Championships and the 2019 Nepela Trophy, respectively. She currently holds four Guinness World Records; the fourth in recognition of her landed quadruple flip at the 2019 ISU Grand Prix Final. Her technical score of 92.35 points in the free skate at the 2018 Junior Worlds was the highest ever recorded in women’s singles skating at the junior and senior level until the GOE (Grade of Execution) system was changed at the end of 2017–18 season.

Currently, Trusova is one of the most highly decorated figure skaters around and she’s not even 20.

In this video, Trusova attempts a move known as a “quad”.

A quad is, plainly put, a really difficult move. When looking at all the potential moves that a skater can perform during a routine, the quad is among the most difficult you are likely to see in the rink.

To give an idea of how hard they are, the first woman to ever land one was only in 2019.

It’s five. Yep, five. Flying around, she hits her first quad within a few seconds of the routine starting.

As she’s skating, she missteps and accidentally falls, immediately dropping one point.

For a less experienced skater, that would be the end of it. For Trusova, however, it’s a momentary blip.

Getting up, she continues to perform, looking graceful all the while.

Then, disaster, Trusova falls again. Incredibly, she gets back up and keeps pressing on.

It’s a true act of determination and skill.

For many, it would have been over already but Trusova keeps skating and doing her best to score as many points at the World Figure Skating Championship as possible.

As the scores come in, it’s clear she did what she came out to do.

Before this moment, nobody had ever landed more than one quad in this competition.

After this, Trusova had broken the record.

Starting in 12th place, she knew she had to get out there and do something incredible.

Even though she fell, it was during the hardest move people do on professional ice.

After the scores came in, she rocketed to being on the podium as a winner.
