By now, the Got Talent franchise has grown in popularity all around the world.
For most people reading this, you’re probably most familiar with America’s Got Talent, a multi-faceted reality show. Unlike other shows like American Idol, the Got Talent series is open to all kinds of talents including singing, dancing, magic, variety shows and everything in between.
Throughout each season, all of the acts compete and the judges can sometimes move in with a Golden Buzzer award to send an act to the live shows or to protect an act from elimination.
Though there have been plenty of inspiring acts on the show, this one is something special.
As it turns out, Britain’s Got Talent had a particularly great show just the other night thanks to an inspiring boy.
It all started when 13-year-old Akshat Singh walked out onstage to speak to the judges. After a few introductory questions, the audience learned that Singh was from Mumbai, India and was at the show with his mom and dad. Beyond that, the judges wanted to know why he’d chosen to audition for the show. “Because I’ve got two mottos in my life,” he said. “To make everyone happy and show everyone that nothing is impossible in our life.”
With that said, the whole crowd had to take an applause break.
After they were done clapping, Singh got in place for his performance—and nobody was ready for what came next.
Singh began by using his body in a particularly expressive way, dancing out some unusual moves… and strangely enough, the judges were not feeling what he was doing. The first set of moves were Bollywood-inspired moves before Singh hit a power pose and transitioned into the next part of his act. “Never underestimate three things in your life,” he mouthed along to an audio sample, “kids, kids and only kids.”
With that, the music dropped back in and Singh really started to bust a move.
Although the beginning had seemed a bit strange, the crowd was immediately back on Singh’s side!
Before long, Singh is dancing along to a Nicki Minaj song. Although everything has been pretty exciting so far, he takes things up a notch by taking it down to the ground. After that, he does a cartwheel and drops into the splits! After that, he’s back on his feet and doing some rapid footwork to Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” After a few more moves, the song is over.
Needless to say, everyone in the crowd is up on their feet—even the judges!
Although everyone in the crowd had judged Singh’s appearance, nobody was ready to see a performance that dynamic.
Before long, the judges are sharing their opinions. First up is Simon Cowell, who says he was not ready to see anything like what he saw. Others follow, saying they wished they could have been young teenagers watching him perform. After more praise and more applause, the judges take a vote. But before they can do that, the hosts Ant and Dec have their own idea.
The pair of them come running up onstage and next to the judges table while the audience is on their feet!
Before the judges can vote, the two hosts smash one of the Golden Buzzers for them!
After that, Singh is overcome with emotion—and his mom is crying with him in the audience. With the buzzer pressed, Singh will continue on to the live shows where he’ll get to perform again. At the end of everything, they ask him again what his mission was that day. “To be happy and to make others happy,” Singh says again. With that, everyone bursts into applause once again!
As it’s pretty clear to see, Singh had definitely been an audience favorite.
Although everyone in the arena had underestimated him, Singh had let his positivity and determination win the day.
Because he loved dancing so much, Singh wasn’t intimidated by the crowd or by the judges. Instead, he did what he came there to do: he danced his heart out until his talent was totally undeniable!
Though the competition is still in full swing and there’s no telling how things will end up, one thing is for sure: nobody will forget his inspiring performance that day.
