Adam easily became part of the weekly live shows where he stunned the people with his amazing performances.

His rendition of “Mad World” is considered one the most iconic performance in the entire program.

Adam sang the 1982 song by Tears for Fears. Known for his creative performances, it started with his silhouette being reflected due to the lighting arrangement, which already set the stage in the mood.

The way that he delivered the song was different from the upbeat version of the British band.

It was haunting yet soulful at the same time.

He brought life to the synth-pop song by emphasizing the hopelessness in its lyrics with his powerful voice.

His execution captured the emotion in the song. No wonder it was one of the most notable performances of all time.

Even the background added to the entirety of the performance.

Dim lights? Smoke effect? Check!

While Adam belted out, the spotlight stayed with him making his performance even more dramatic.

Don’t you feel compelled by his song?

Adam chose the song because he wanted his listeners to appreciate the beauty of the song, and he thought it suited the theme “year of birth.”

“They gave us a list and that song popped out at me and I remembered the Gary Jules version from the movie, ‘Donnie Darko.’ It’s haunting and beautiful and it gets in your head and the words are amazing and I wanted to do it because I knew it would be different and very non-‘Idol’ and not showy. I wanted to pull back and sound really vulnerable and just do the song justice and they came up with a great arrangement of it, kind of this ambient, acoustic thing.” Lambert said to Billboard during his interview.

It was his ticket toward his career.

After American Idol, Adam was offered to do album covers, but his mind was set on a different path.

However, he had a change of heart years after that.

Why?

“I’m at a point now where the idea came up, and I thought, ‘That sounds like a fun challenge’. The idea was to find some songs and flip them on their heads so they sounded like totally new pieces of music.” Lambert shared with BBC News.

Aside from his career, Lambert shares his advocacy for gender equality.

During the track of his career, Adam experienced discrimination due to his sexuality. However, it did make him stop and change his image.
