There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Whitney Houston truly made a huge impact in the music industry with her countless legendary performances and songs. Jeanne Harr, a 90-year-old grandmother from Utah, has always been a huge fan of Whitney. When her grandson Adam Forgie played the popular hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, grandma Jeanne instantly decided to show off some dance moves.
Adam, who is also her daily caretaker, recorded Jeanne’s dance performance and it’s truly a sight to behold.
It proves that dancing absolutely knows no age limits, and we have to admit – Jeanne’s moves are pretty smooth.
When Jeanne realized that the meaning of the song was to actually share a dance with somebody, she made it clear that she didn’t want to dance alone anymore. She simply asked her grandson Adam to step in front of the camera and share the dance with her. As Adam funnily stated in the video, his dance moves weren’t quite as good as Jeanne’s.
Nonetheless, you can clearly see that the two are having tons of fun and enjoy spending their time together.
A touching and heartwarming video, especially considering that dancing is incredibly important to Jeanne. The grandmother suffers from severe macular degeneration, which renders her practically and legally blind. She is almost deaf and Adam mentions on his Facebook page that his grandma also received a steel hip replacement, which helps her become “100% dancer.”
“My 90-year-old grandma is fabulous. She likes to dance. I like to record it,” Adam says. “Born in 1921 and raised during the Great Depression, my grandmother has found dancing to be a consistent form of entertainment since she was a child. She started dancing at age 4, in 1925, though never professionally.”
“She is legally blind (severe macular degeneration) and like many people her age, also very hard of hearing. One of the few things that make her happy is dancing!”
Whitney Houston’s single “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” was released in 1987 and became a major hit worldwide. The upbeat and passionate song fits perfectly with Jeanne’s funky dance routine.
The video itself was completely Jeanne’s idea and was shot in a single take. The woman wanted to pay tribute to Whitney Houston and it was recorded shortly after the superstar passed away. Major news outlets picked up her amazing dance and Jeanne can now proudly call herself a viral superstar with almost two million YouTube views.
