One of the most-performed country songs almost everyone heard of is “Tennessee Whiskey.”

It’s often described as a “drinking country song,” whose storyline speaks of the hell that alcohol abuse can put you through. Now imagine a nine-year-old boy delivering the lyrics!

Maybe you wouldn’t instinctively tie that kind of story to a child, but Taj Farrant is no ordinary kid.

Born in 2009, Farrant has already appeared on Ellen and released a single.

Taj Farrant, a right-handed guitarist and a child prodigy from Australia, first appeared on Australia’s Got Talent before Ellen welcomed him onto her famous show.

He was only eight years old back then. Both events propelled little Farrant all the way up to 191,000 YouTube subscribers and almost the same number of Instagram followers. This video alone was viewed almost seven million times.

Farrant’s debut single called “Just Can’t Sleep” came out a few days ago, and you can find numerous other covers on his channel.

The boy has some impressive guitar playing skills, but he can also sing. His parents must be proud!

For those who don’t know, Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove originally wrote the song.

The version Dillon and Hargrove came up with peaked at number 77 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1981.

After that, George Jones recorded his version and it ended up in second place on the Hot Country Singles chart.

Chris Stapleton’s version of the “Tennessee Whiskey” has been certified six-times Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Stapleton even decided to include it to all his shows.

In 2018, it was announced that Tennessee Whiskey: The Musical, a play for Broadway, was in the pre-production phase.

This is the face of a star who deeply feels the blues.

Now that we’ve said just how catchy and popular the song is, let’s move back to Farrant’s performance.

The little gentleman feels the song—he’s simply got that extra something that makes him deliver a pure blues emotion. His playing is so moving, and there is a smooth flow of a true blues guitarist in his style.

The video is in black and white and Farrant is probably in his room—he’s even got the hat and everything.

As the clip begins, he’s shown holding a Gibson guitar in his hands and there’s a Marshall amplifier next to him. We can see another guitar hanging on the wall beside him.

It’s almost unbelievable that a child can play in such a tasteful and measured way!

There were a couple of moments in the video when we were reminded of a Stevie Ray Vaughan, mostly because of very similar facial expressions.

The kid is mini Stevie Ray Vaughan, and he’s brilliant.

As it turns out, Farrant is the youngest guitarist to be endorsed by Gibson guitars and Elixir Strings.

It’s in the video description box that Farrant uses Elixir strings to play.

We bet that most guitarists would love to jam with him any time! The little guy is ripping off those guitar licks like a pro, and there’s so much passion in him.

We’re already big fans because Farrant is phenomenal and he’s going to be in the business for a very long time.

The future is bright for the little Aussie.
