We all love Adele. She is one of the world’s best-selling music artists, with sales of over 120 million records for good reason. Her songs hurt when the listener is heartbroken.
Adele’s raw, emotional voice is so relatable. Her songs often speak of loss or a horrible break up, no wonder she’s such a hit. Not that we’re celebrating break ups but you get the point.
That’s why so many singers attempt to cover her songs.
The young lady in this video is named Kelsi Kee. She’s famous now, but back in 2012, the talented eight-year-old child stopped shoppers at a local Walmart when she sang Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”.
Pretty sure everyone stopped to watch and listen.
So far, this video has over 4.6 million views. But she deserves more viewers, who in turn will discover Kelsi Kee’s music.
She’s now 18 so imagine what she sounds like today if she sounded so good all those years ago.
Now, amateur singers and karaoke patrons know Adele’s songs are not easy to sing!
You can see and hear the person holding the camera approach young Kelsi and ask her, “Can you sing again?”
Now normally, a child would shy away from such a request, but Kelsi here doesn’t even hesitate. She quickly launches into the song, her voice soaring above the noise of the supermarket.
Kelsi sounds incredible. It’s a very bluesy rock and roll voice reminiscent of the likes of Janis Joplin. You have to wonder if Adele herself saw and heard young Kelsi here.
She hits all the notes on cue, commanding the melody with impressive control.
Since this impromptu performance, Kelsi has covered all kinds of songs from “House of the Rising Sun” to “American Woman.”
Time does fly but in Kelsi Kee’s case, she made good use of all those years. She’s polished her voice and style, and now sounds even more awesome.
You know how it’s often such a drag having to get up and go to the supermarket?
It’s more money to shell out for all the stuff you need at home. So you drive to Walmart, probably still sleepy and wanting another cup of coffee thinking to just get the day over with.
Then you encounter a kid who sings so well.
This is the same kid who covered Heart’s “Alone” and shared it on her Facebook page.
Listen, if you were there at that Walmart you’d have stopped and listened too. Young Kelsi’s impromptu singing here was way better than any cup of strong coffee that’s for sure.
See those steaks behind her? It’s a wonder they weren’t sizzling. Kelsi was on fire!
“We could have had it all…” – Well Kelsi Kee sure did!
She was such a pleasure to listen to all those years ago in Walmart. You can hear strangers in the back talking, obviously impressed with the young girl.
That’s raw talent right there. We’re glad she pursued a career in music!
