There are so many variations of musical instruments out there that some of them tend to get forgotten.
Take the classical guitar, for instance.
Most of us are familiar with the sound of acoustic and electric guitars, but we’re less familiar with classical guitars.
The main difference between acoustic and classical guitars is their strings. While acoustic guitars use steel strings, classical guitars use nylon strings, which give a softer, more mellow sound.
Playing a classical guitar is just as challenging as playing acoustic.
But the 7-year-old in this video makes playing classical guitar look easy.
Konstantina Andritsou, a girl from Greece, is almost too small to hold a classic guitar.
Nonetheless, she plays better than most adult musicians.
Several videos of Konstantina have been shared online, but perhaps the most famous is her performance in Athens when she was just seven years old.
Think about what you were doing when you were seven.
You were probably being annoyed by (or annoying) your siblings.
You likely were not being led onto a stage to put on a performance that would later get more than 26 million views on YouTube.
In this video, Konstantina plays a piece by renowned Spanish composer Francisco Tárrega, which is beautiful, but only when played right.
It’s a complex piece that demands the right timing, and a slip of the note would be all too obvious.
What’s clear, however, is that Konstantina is a true professional at her guitar playing.
She looks a little nervous as she sits down on a stool and a guitar is placed into her lap. After a bit of adjusting, she nods her head to signal that she’s ready to start.
If the crowd hadn’t seen her perform before, they probably had no idea what to expect.
Perhaps some thought they’d be treated to a rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” that they’d have to politely nod along to, trying not to wince at the mistakes.
Instead, Konstantina’s performance is one her audience will remember forever, and for all the right reasons.
From the moment she begins to play, her nervousness is replaced by a combined look of concentration and enjoyment.
You can tell that playing the guitar is more than just a hobby for her.
She plays with passion and precision, and every note rings out beautifully.
Despite her young age, Konstantina maintains all the composure of an adult musician throughout the number.
The music is beautiful and exotic.
It’s like the sort of song you’d listen to while sipping cocktails on a beachfront in Italy.
It truly transports you to a different place, which is a testament to Konstantina’s incredible musical abilities.
It’s easy to forget that Konstantina was only 7 years old at the time of this performance.
