Every so often, a singer delivers a performance that leaves us utterly astounded.

This was precisely the case when Adaline Bates graced the stage of America’s Got Talent.

She didn’t just sing a duet; she did something entirely different, something that left the audience and judges in awe.

Adaline single-handedly performed both the male and female parts of the duet.

The intrigue began when Adaline announced that she needed to change her outfit before starting her performance.

When she reappeared from backstage, she was wearing an outfit split right down the middle, leaving the judges utterly perplexed.

On her left side, she donned a tuxedo, and on her right, a dress.

Her hair was styled similarly, with one side long and luscious, and the other side short and neat.

It was clear that each half of her outfit represented a different singer for the duet she was about to perform.

As the judges watched in anticipation, Julianne Hough wondered aloud, “Is she going to do both parts? Oh my god.”

They soon found out, and they were about to be completely blown away by her performance.

Adaline turned to one side, showing only her short hair and tuxedo, and began singing in a deep male voice.

The song she chose was a duet version of “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole, a timeless classic.

After completing the first male parts of the song, she moved to the other side of the stage, facing the other direction to reveal only her dress and long hair.

The audience was in awe.

She then sang the next section of the track in her own normal female voice.

Simon commented, “I love being surprised, and Julianne said, ‘am I supposed to laugh or is it good?’. I said, it’s both, it’s funny but good.”

It’s not often that someone impresses Simon, but Adaline definitely succeeded.

Julianne thought it was great too, saying, “This so fun and entertaining and what we are looking for in this day and age is to feel good.”

Adaline explained, “And that’s what it’s meant to do.” Her feel-good performance was something everyone could appreciate.

When Adaline first stepped onto the stage, she mentioned that she had spent her whole life raising her kids.

Now that she finally had some “me time” again, she wanted to use it to fulfill her dreams of singing for an audience.

She certainly succeeded on that front.

Judge Gabrielle Union joked, “At 63 she came out on this stage and did not one but two performances. I love that this is what your me time looks like.”
