Breakdancing involves lots of somersaults, spinning headstands and tumbling moves.
Other elements can include pantomime dance, intricate footwork and elaborate improvised virtuosic movements.
While styles can vary, breakdancing mainly consists of four kinds of movement: top rock, down rock, power moves and freezes.
In a video uploaded on YouTube which has now racked up more than four million views, two kids battle it out to determine who is the best when it comes to breakdancing!
The two talented kids are B-Girl Terra and B-Boy Leelou. They are fighting in Chelles Battle Pro, a breakdance competition for younger dancers.
Chelles Battle Pro was created in 2001 and it is held every year in Chelles, France.
In this tournament, there are two competitions. One is a kid’s competition for solo b-boys and b-girls who are 12 years old or younger. The other competition is a knock-out tournament for eight b-boy crews.
The first contender who spiced up the stage is B-Boy Leelou from Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Leelou kicked off the competition with a short intro that comprises nimble feet and head spins.
While performing, Terra was already practicing and mimicking his moves on the side as if mocking him.
Born as Lee-Lou Demierre, he started breaking when he was two years old because of his b-girl mom.
Aside from his mother, one of his greatest inspirations is The Ruggeds, a b-boy crew. He first saw them when he was nine years old and got captivated right away by their style and originality.
So during the Dutch B-Boy Championship in 2009, he made a painting for them with “Can I join your crew?” written on it.
And after few weeks of taking master classes and interacting with the group, then finally he became a member of The Ruggeds.
Next up is British B-Girl Terra, who made quite an entrance by gliding smoothly on her back towards the center stage.
Despite being a six-year-old kid with small stature, her movements are really fast and energetic!
She showcased lots of breakdance techniques that displayed her great stamina and strong muscles. The crowd kept cheering for her as she turned up the heat!
In the midst of her performance, she did the cutthroat gesture, taunting Leelou.
Lee used that gesture to saunter forward—only to be stopped by Terra, who pushed him back while gesturing no…which only hyped the audience more!
Even Leelou can’t help but cheer for her too~ The girl is too feisty for her age and height, even the host joined the clamor of cheers and claps.
B-Girl Terra is known for her long list of accomplishments at such a young age.
In 2012, she won the international competition Unvisti Baby Battle at the age of six.
Even so, she got wider prominence after her performance at the 2013 Chelles Battle Pro at that same age.
In 2015, she was featured as a talent act on Ellen—it all shows that she is truly a prodigy at breakdancing!
As the competition draws to an end, Leelou retaliates with his own set of stunts—but Terra is just so determined to bring home the crown!
With plenty of tricks still up her sleeve, she swallowed Leelou whole with her performance that made the crowd roar louder, as she wins the competition!
