Children at 5 are just about able to walk and run and jump without stumbling as much.

But Angelina Leonova was out on the ice, skating to music, and winning 1st place.

This young lady is very passionate with what she does, and on her Instagram account, she says:

“My name is Angelina.💓I am 5 years old.
I am a figure skater, model, I like to joke, laugh and show off🍬
Moved from Primorye to Moscow for new adventures”

If you go through her account, she’s got posts just like any other little girl.

Angelina can be seen in pretty dresses, parties, different places, and just naturally having a good time.

So watching her on ice makes it really hard to believe that it’s the same little Russian girl on the popular website.

But then again her country has a long history with ice skating.

The Russians’ love for the ice is a very popular fact, one that many books, songs and films feature when winter comes around.

This love affair with the ice isn’t that old though, like little Angelina.

Moscow’s first skating rink opened only in 1864, marking the sport’s beginnings as a leisure activity for the masses.

Before the rink opened, Russians would attach horse bones to their shoes so they could glide on ice.

They did this in order to warm themselves up through exercise when the harsh winter months came around.

It was Tsar Peter the Great who brought ice-skating to Russia after he brought samples of skates from Holland to his country.

He is even credited for inventing ways of attaching ice skating blades directly to boots.

So in Russia, parents start their skaters really young.

If Angelina is this good at 5, how old did she start skating and training?

Most toddlers begin walking, or attempting to do so, at around their first year in this planet.

By 2 and 3, they walk then try to run, still stumbling and falling from time to time.

But Angelina here skates with the greatest of ease, gliding and seemingly flying to the music playing over the speakers.

No wonder Russian skaters have been some of the best skaters in the world, often joining and winning in competitions, including the Olympics.

They are a dominant force in the Olympics.

And that’s not surprising when they’re this good at this age.

It is difficult to ignore the fact that Angelina is really adorable, looking like a little ice princess as she glides on the ice, but watch her balance and control.

Though not yet perfect, she’s definitely getting there.

Many adults cannot do what she’s capable of doing, let’s put it that way.

Skating in itself is a challenge most of us could never do but here she is balancing and stretching out on ice.

Then Angelina shows off with an incredible pirouette and a few extra spins.

This is why a 5-year-old won 1st place!

Give her 15, maybe 20 years, and chances are Angelina will be smashing competitions across the country before making her way to the world stage.
