One of the cutest things in life is watching a young child do what they enjoy. For some, that involves playing sports or perhaps singing. For others, it’s all about dancing. Even if they don’t have an abundance of skill, it’s fun to see them get so excited. But for children with a natural talent, it’s even better since they’re in their element.

Pursuing a dream

A lot of kids want to pursue a career in dance. After all, there are multiple styles, which gives them plenty of choices. And when they’re young, they give performances that are fun yet serious because they’re intent on doing their very best.

Only five-years-old

Even at such a young age, Roxy Brennan has a major passion for dancing. But for her, it’s so much more. This girl has a tremendous amount of talent. Watching her typically leaves people speechless.

Dance competition

In February 2019, Roxy participated in the national Baltimore Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competition. In a video that’s now been viewed more than 3.5 million times, she looks so tiny, especially standing there on a big stage. But the audience could also tell that she had a fierce attitude and was determined to win.

Her song of choice

Unlike a lot of the other participants who did jazz or lyrical pieces, Roxy had something different mind. Her outfit should’ve been an obvious clue. Then as soon as the music started to play, people immediately recognized the song — “Maniac” — from the popular 1983 movie, Flashdance.

Skill beyond her age

From the minute she started to perform, there was no doubt that she takes dance seriously. But it was also obvious that this five-year-old has a rare gift. What she did on that stage is what you’d expect to see from a dancer with a decade or more of experience.

No pressure

Considering that Flashdance was the third highest grossing film in the US at that time and that the tempo of “Maniac” is super-fast, Roxy had a lot to prove. In her mind, she wanted to do both the movie and the song justice. For most of us, that’d be a lot of pressure to deal with but not for this girl.

The back story

The song, “Maniac” tells a story of a woman, played by Jennifer Beals, who’s on a quest to find her power and strength. While watching Roxy dance, she portrayed this same message. Every twist, jump, and turn were done with 100 percent confidence.

Perfect descriptions

While watching this strong performance, two things come to mind. First, “dynamite comes in small packages.” Second, the phrase “Nobody puts Baby in the corner,” which comes from another iconic movie, “Dirty Dancing.” This was Roxy’s moment to shine.

A flawless performance

Throughout the entire number, Roxy doesn’t miss a beat. All of her moves were razor-sharp, which is hard enough to accomplish as it is. But then you remember she’s only five. That makes her performance all the more impressive.

The complete package

One of the toughest things for kids this age to maser is all the facial expressions needed to tell a story. Roxy nailed those as well. Along with precision moves, she played the role, making this performance believable.

Although she’s still very young, with the amount of talent this girl has, the sky’s the limit. We truly hope she continues on the path of becoming a professional dancer since she’s that good. You can see for yourself by clicking on the video below.
